I left an eSnipe on an item this morning before I left for the day. Came back to find an email from eSnipe saying that they tried to bid but could not because my eBay password was wrong! Say what? It was right a few days ago when I won a snipe how can it be wrong now? Went to My eBay and saw an alert. "Your password was changed on Feb. 1." How? I have never in my life clicked on one of those spoof emails. I always sign on to PayPal or eBay from the actual site, I don't have a simple word that could be guessed, and I am on a Mac and don't use Outlook.

I was able to sign on to see my alert. Wanted to find out what my password had been changed to. What a nightmare. Round and Round from eBay to email and back again. I did get it changed and looked at my information. It is all still correct. Why wouldn't  anyone who changed my password have changed by email and contact info as well? There has been no bidding or selling on the account since the Feb. 1.

I am baffled by the whole thing. I also notice that my Safari browser will no longer load the sign-in page for eBay. That started while I was changing my password. I can still log in from Internet Explorer.

I feel like I am in the twilight zone. Can anyone suggest what happened?

Update: I dumpted my cookies (Is that anything like tossing your cookies?) and now I can log in with Safari. Cound this be some kind of eBay glitch?

eBay glitch? - no such thing unless you still believe in the tooth fairy and Santa Claus (according to eBay propaganda).

Most likely if you ever had a different password in the past (it's recommended you change it every few months), then an eBay database glitch has probably reverted your's to one of your previous passwords.

Or the eBay cookie bug has struck again and another person's eBay password has been misaligned with your account. Well documented bug. Typical poor eBay programming. Clearing your eBay cookies may help, but is not guaranteed to fix the problem as it's on eBay's side of the fence. YMMV
