"I do not like how you have your items on display for auction. It is such a hassle trying to view any item you have for sale with the carousel display."

The above is word for word all that was in an email sent to me today............ What the heck? no signature and did not come through ebay. It is from no one I know but WAS in my junk mail list. If someone has not written to me previously, mail will into junk first ... so this doesn't mean much. Is this a new spam no link so its not fish... I don't have a carousel.... save the vendio gallery that ALOT of sellers have. Any bright ideas?

" Dear Hassled,
The carousel was an idea I came up with after I returned from a carnival. The barker had a wheel with a bunch of cheap prizes, and one good prize on it. You pay a dollar hoping to get the good prize, but 99% of the time you get the cheap junk after he spins the wheel. I reverse applied this idea to my Ebay auctions. I have many expensive items on the carousel and one cheap item. Whenever a bidder tries to bid on the cheap item, he invariably winds up clicking on an expensive item with a BIN and outrageous shipping charges. Pretty ingenious, wouldn't you say? It's an especially good revenue producer since I'm confined to house arrest after my recent fraud conviction. My probation officer says the electronic anklet will be removed in 90 days and I will be free to pursue my regular career, at which time I will be able to discontinue the carousel. Thank you for your interest "

You may copy, paste, add to or subtract from. Just be sure to let her have it with both barrels

I don't get it. Someone is giving you valuable feedback and you're going to blast them for it?

Why?

I think I'm paying Vendio about $25 a month for the Gallery. If people don't like it, I'd sure like to know about it. So far I have one vote for the horizontal scrolling version and one vote for the slot machine version (though she sounds like a gal who'd be a lot of fun with a few drinks in her).

I can't imagine emailing someone just to criticize their auctions.

However, I will add that personally I hate the Vendio Gallery. It seems to slow the whole page down (even though I'm on DSL), it's very distracting and it's never once encouraged me to look at the seller's other items or enticed me to buy.

I usually back out pretty quick unless they have something I can't find anywhere else.

JMO - No offense intended and hopefully none taken.

BJ, sounds like the buyer I had last night.

2 minutes after her snipe bid won the auction, there is an email in my mailbox.

Hello,

I am dismayed at how you have presented your auction. There were several items pictured. As I looked for detail as to what was included in the auction there was very little in your description. Since there was very little in way of description I went with what you had presented in your photograph of what you were selling. So when I bid thought I was bidding on everthing in the pictures. Apparently that is not accurate and such then I ask to be released from this transaction.

Note to idiot, item for sale was described in the auction title and detailed in the auction description. Picture of item was prominent in the center of the page. Learn to read! All the pretty pictures are called a gallery, duh!

Of course my real reply to her was much nicer and I gladly released her from her obligation to pay simply because I do not wish to do business with such a person.

I could just see making her pay and then getting a charge back because she did not receive every item in my gallery!

As for the topic of carosel or not...

My brother is finally on the net with a new computer. He lives in a rural area where dial-up is the only option. He says trying to view anything on ebay is a PITA.

I was talking him thru a few ebay searches and he had to back out of any page that had a gallery on it. He is going to have to be wanting something fairly badly before he will wait 3 minutes for a page to load.

I guess I am lucky that most of my buyers must have DSL.

Fluffy, I live in the rural sticks with only dial-up but did not find your gallery to be slow to load or a distraction a few weeks ago. Used the horizontal gallery to find a pretty floral bracelet, which, btw, my daughter really likes
