Is this a new spoof? I am trying to answer a question sent through eBay from a buyer and I get a screen that wants me to put a number that is in a purple box and kind of wavy into another box. I'm not biting on that one! Below is what I got, but without the purple box, it did not come through when I copied.

It's real as long as you are on ebay. It's there way of cutting down on automated spam emails through the ebay message system. I get them all the time. Problem is 1/2 the time I can't make out what the damn numbers are.
They say your memory's the second thing to go, I just can't remember what the first thing is.

Thanks! It is just the first time I have seen it so I was not sure it was real. You are right, the numbers ARE really hard to make out. I may not even answer the question, they want to buy something they did not bid on and did not sell and want to know the least I will take for it. I don't sell off eBay so all I would be telling her is no.

wants to know "the least you will take for it." oh paleeze. bottom feeders really get me going. knowing me, if i answered the message, i'd probably say something like:
"special price, just for you" - then add $5.00 or $10.00 onto what it was priced for at auction

It's an Ebay violation to offer to buy or sell outside the system. I report every one of those offers I get, then block them at Ebay and also my regular mail. I recently had a pretty expensive piece of furniture that didn't quite make reserve. It had 53 people watching it, and only 6 active bidders. As soon as the auction closed I was swamped with "how much will you take" inquiries. There are more of them all the time. Pi$$ on 'em.
