has anyone sold to China before? i think it's about the only place i haven't sold to...just sold two postcards to a chinese buyer.

i can't read their end-of-auction notice that's in chinese and mine in english is incomplete. after i invoiced the person, i went to check their contact info and the phone number and beijing show but not their name or street address.

this should be interesting. always glad to have new buyers, although this one may be a challenge. i can only pray that their english is better than my chinese!

I've sold to China before with no problem. I got the right address on the PayPal notification. I haven't had them pay any other way. They are good buyers! I used ebay invoice to bill them.

thanks, neglus! i think the most obscure place i've sold to was the isle of man or the isle of skye. sometimes i wish i'd put a big map of the world on the wall when i started, to pin in the locations. not too many to south america but pretty well represented on the other continents, i think.

Do you have a working knowledge of Spanish or French? If so, I have an idea that could make this transaction REALLY interesting.

si habla espanol and ditto for french, watching this alarm about a nerve agent on capitol hill...hopefully much ado about nothing but you can see the washington monument from my mom's house, so i find these stories nerve-wracking.

why, what's the idea about the spanish and french? you've piqued my curiousity.

Nerve agent in DC? They aren't even reporting it on CBS (GRammy awards )! My hubby is on a biz trip there now

I've shipped almost everywhere too. I can get by in French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, understand Swiss German (hubby is native German speaker) and have Pixiamom for Scandinavian languages. I am not even going to try Chinese or Japanese!!

Yes, chuckle. Made my first sale there in 1982 swapping Chinese FEC for Yuan on the black market, which I then recycled into Chinese antiques including beautiful heirloom silver and gold jewelry, but that's another story.

Chinese buyers are rather restricted in what payments are available to them with all the exchange restrictions. If you plan on selling into the PRC you might want to contact HSBC about payment options. I have a Hong Kong bank account for just that purpose...

Chinese have no problem hustling up US cash,it is the post office theft which presents a problem to them,or to each other.

I've had just one recent sale to China - Shanghai. He used PayPal and there were no problems.

Sold to China a couple of times, some rather high dollar auctions. All easy transactions, immediate paypal payment and no problems.
