Does this particular art form have a specific name? Can anyone read the name on the bottom? It looks like "Ester Barm" but could be "Baim", "Barn" or something else. I think the figure was purchased in New Mexico in the 1980's. Thanks for any help/info.

I also thought there might be an "i" in the last name...Don't think it's "Barr" since there are 3 "humps"...and "Barr" would have only 2. I'm kind of hoping she is a well-known artist and that someone will recognize her name...Thanks for the help.

blueyes - It is Esta Bain. She was originally trained as a painter, then Esta moved to the southwest in 1970 and discovered the medium of clay while taking pottery classes.
Take a look at the following website for some of her other sculptures:

WOW...thanks cta and LtRay...you are both TERRIFIC and prove beyond a shadow of doubt that people on this board are the smartest and most helpful of any in the world! Thanks, too, for providing the link with the one with a price...I was wondering about a possible value and that helped too. Thanks again and may all of your eBay sales exceed expectations!

If you can - you might want to work RC Gorman into the description. It may just be the simplistic round style but the first thing I though when I saw it was that it looked like something Gorman may do so it may appeal to fans of his work.
