I am searching for some new templates for my auctions. Tired of the same ones offered here. Anyone have some sites that I could download some templates? Have searched yahoo, and google, but most that I have seen don't impress me much. Figure if sales are slow, at least having a new look and style can breakup the slow times.

I'm with you! And I've begged Vendio many times to add just ONE template featuring books--on a shelf, or stacked, or just showing somehow for us booksellers. No dice. How hard could it be?!

Try making your own with your image editor and some clip art - Vendio's templates can be customized.

You can use this image if you want and upload it at the top of the template :

Here are some freebies, or you can also purchase custom templates. The freebies are pretty basic, but you may be able to work with some of them to create something new and different.

If you use Vendio you can click on any template and then click on the button that says Template Workshop. All you have to do is click on each area and change it however you want. I have made some really neat ones for my auctions and store items.

Neglus--how did you do that?! I just clicked on it and sent it to myself, and there it is. I know a LOT about some things but nothing about creating templates from scratch. Thank you so much. I'll try it in one of my current templates.

You are very welcome Adele. I searched Google "image" for books on shelf and found an image that probably wasn't copyrighted (this one is rare books at Gonzaga U). I saved to my computer and opened in IRFAN, cropped, resized and saved it. I "created a new image" and inserted the text in it, sized and saved that. Then I created a "Panoramic image" (still in IRFAN) using 2 of the book images, one of the text and two more of the books. I resized and saved it. It sounds complicated but it doesn't take long and kind of fun to play with!

Aw, shucks, Neglus. After all this help, I went to my templates in Vendio and was told my current plan won't allow adding my own art.

WELL POOH! I thought everyone had access to the template workshop! You just get to pick from the non-customizable templates? Well you could upload the image to your images and add the url to your "Custom listing text" so it would appear in the body of the description at the bottom.

The Url coding to add would be:
<p><center><img src="RIGHT CLICK ON IMAGE PROPERTIES TO GET THE IMAGE URL AND INSERT HERE.jpg">

If you put it at the end of your custom listing text it will appear at the bottom.

Neglus: I do have access to the custom templates and workshop. It's just that Vendio won't let me add this into the frame of the template, which is where I want it--I got the message that my sales plan won't allow using my OWN images. I'll try adding it to the body of the description, at the top of the description box. Thanks for your help.

If and when I ever get an eBay store, I suppose I could do that then.

Isn't it odd that Vendio has everything under the sun for templates except books?! And that they've not responded to the requests of many of us!

Try to add images in the frame part of the template workshop. I couldn't get the one I did to work right so I just uploaded the book image without the "Book Nook" (don't have time to play now) and here's what I got:

Here's the books image:

What plan do you have to have to upload your own images. I wind up just uploading into the logo area and adding it to top of template where you can change images on the templates. But they only let you upload 3 and that isn't much fun. Maybe we should suggest opening this to everyone.

I build my own images in Paint Shop Pro 7 or Corel Paint. Very useful programs but expensive especially next to a free one.

Irked you can upload you own images in the edit graphics part of the template. I did one all the way across by turning off left graphic and right graphic and uploading a banner (like the one I did for Roadsmith) as a "graphic" at the top and the bottom

I have the Sales Manager plan (with no frills aside from the gallery and image hosting). I'll try again tonight, when I have a bit of time, attempting to load it into the description box itself or into the frame. Didn't work for me earlier today.

I don't know if you have access to customize Vendio Sample 3? If you do, you upload the "Book Nook banner" at the place where it says "Edit Accent Graphics". Select "none" for Top Left and "Images" for Top Center and click on "choose" - on the left is a place to indicate you want to upload your own.

Then you can play around with the rest of it. Here's a quick stab at it:

Thanks, Neglus! Gee, I hope I'm able to use this. I love what you've done. I'll tackle this in the morning when I'm fresher. Adele

Thank you neglus, I like the logo. I will try some of the suggestions here and see what I can do with the Vendio templates. I did try to add my own background, and my service plan doesn't allow me to do that. It will allow me to add a logo though. Speaking of logo's, I have made many, many different ones, and have been trying to come up with an idea for my company, Around the World Treasures. I love the way you did this one neglus. I have tried with world, globe, etc., graphics, but have wondered if the "world" and globes, etc. have been overdone too much as a logo for companies, or not? I'm just not to brainy I guess, cause I have been trying to think of any other things that might work as a logo theme with my company name. Any other ideas.

I design my own in FrontPage. You want to make sure you keep it simple. There are still a lot of people out there using dial-up. A table format is best. It keeps things organized and easy to find. I don't pay much attention to how fancy someone's ad is. If it's organized and the photos are good, I'll stick around. If everything is scattered or the photos are bad, I hit the back button fairly quick. If you have a store, it's a good idea if your store and your auction ad match at least in color scheme. I like white backgrounds with dark text. The text doesn't have to be black, but for me, dark is best.
