Pixiamom and I have long had a "faucet theory" about ebay store sales. Sometimes the faucet is "on" and we get a lot of sales and sometimes it's "off" and we get few store sales. Our faucets are on different cycles.

Pixiamom thinks it's related to the number of items (including store items) scheduled to end or renew on a given day. I am not so sure. I think it has more to the flukiness of ebay search or the ebay gods and gremlins.

At any rate, with the store items now (intermittently) appearing in regular "search" it's hard to say if recent sales can be attributed to the "faucet" or something else. I am almost afraid to post about good sales for fear they will go south but it looks to me like the new search has made a big difference.

I also have done a couple of other things like elevating the store subscription to "featured" as an experiment and also ran a "featured" listing on the sale day last Tuesday. In the past I really haven't noticed an increase in sales when I have been a "featured store" as opposed to basic but I thought I'd give it another try in light of the new search. I have usually enjoyed increased sales when I run "featured" listings but at $20 a pop that's a little too spendy to play around with very often.

Oddly enough, when other sellers complain about slow sales mine are good and vice versa. (Not other postcard sellers particularly, just the sellers posting on the boards).

Has anyone experienced dramatic increases in store sales since the search change? I am thinking that it may be time to rethink the business plan - especially about relisting unsold items in auction format.

BTW - last year Bill Cobb sent us a reduced price listing day as a Valentine's Day present.

I don't have a store but I'm considering it. So the new search really helps? Maybe it's time to add a store?
Thanks for the head's up on Valentines price reduction.

ladyj - I don't know if it's the new search or the benefit of "featured" or the faucet (or ebay gods or gremlins) or the end of the football season, the storm in the Northweast yadayadayada...all I can say is you won't know unless you try. I think they have a free offer to open stores running now don't they?

I've noticed that store sales have been coming in clumps. A bunch at once, then nothing for hours. A few days ago, I had 14 store sales within one hour, then nothing for the rest of the day.

Maybe ebay has adopted amazons cycling system. Not all items are shown all of the time.
