Hello. Has anyone else noticed a big drop off on auctions the past say ten days, but a BIG increase in sales from Ebay Stores?

We sell many different items and our collectibles from our Ebay store really took off the past ten days since Ebay changed the search.

However we sell a lot of vintage clothing and only run auctions on that but since about ten days ago when Ebay changed the search the sell thru rates just dropped. Noticed a lot of people on the Ebay boards are saying the same thing.

Normal sell thru for our vintage clothing is 40% min and up to 60%. Now we are getting constant 11% to 17%. And they dont sell well at store.

So just wondering if anyone else is having experience like this.

I don't have a store, but I think they are getting a lot more visibility. I am in the habit of doing searches, and not bothering to specify "ending soonest" - I would just click on the end pages of the search. Now when I do that, I am in the stores. Probably a lot of other people doing the same, and the store item may cath their eye.

I haven't run any auctions for several weeks. This is the first time I've run any since the new search went into effect. For the 60 some auctions closing tonight about 20% have bids right now. Several items have more then one bidder. I expect the percentage will go up to 25 - 30% by tonight. Not the 50 - 60% I had last year at this time but not terrible either.

My store sales have been strong and steady. 5-7 sales a day since the new search went into effect.

It will be interesting to see how many sales the new "Express" will bring in after they implement it this spring.

I don't think ten days is a long enough period of time to really make any sort of judgement, you need a lot more data to really notice a trend.

I can say from my experience, over the past year my sell through rates were declining on ebay auctions. I used to get 80% with original listing and a relist, now it might be closer to 50%. After a long period of decline, I've changed things and now do a LOT less auction business on ebay. I've focused a lot on stores, and my store sales are higher than they were this time last year (and I am putting some higher priced items in the store that would have definitely gone in auction a year ago) - I also am doing well off ebay too, significantly better than a year ago.

With that said, I am not calling the auction model dead, because it really depends on so many factors. There are so many different items to sell, that selling used texbooks may be in the tank, but selling gold coins may be going gangbusters.

I don't have alot of items in my ebay store and usually only sell a handfull of items a month. But since they changed the search I myself have been selling 1-3 items a day. That has to be close to 20 times more than my usual average. Been great for me. In fact I am thinking of greatly expanding my store listing's since the recent influx of sales.

They say your memory's the second thing to go, I just can't remember what the first thing is.

My store sales are up too. I am waiting for eBay to make the changes with the categories though until I list more in the store and I have a lot to list.

I don't have a store but I may be forced to open one. My auction sales aren't doing that well either. I have notice multi bids on what does sell so the ending price is better.
