envelopes being delivered to places like germany and other countries where it will show up as delivered on the on the USPS website. yes or no. I only take Paypal for Canadian or UK buyers as I know that they will show up as delivered but I am not certain about other countries. I am rethinking about countries where we can use Global Priority envelopes if it shows that we can monitor it.
Help Please!
TIA

I've never understood the value of GPM vs say PARCEL POST (REGISTERED), since GPM excludes just about everything:
235 Special Services
Mailers may obtain certificates of mailing (see 310). No other special services, such as registry, insurance, restricted delivery, return receipt, or recorded delivery, are available.
GPM labels have a NUMBER, but, the last time I used GPM, that number was worthless (didn't track)...BUT: I guess NOW the CUSTOMS FORMS do track? Or not??
MY PAST EXPERIENCE WITH USPS:
and international shipping was:
IF I WANTED "TRUE" ONLINE TRACKING, I had to use one of the following:
1) GLOBAL EXPRESS MAIL (way too expensive)
2) AIRMAIL LETTER POST combined with REGISTERED MAIL
3) PARCEL POST combined with REGISTERED MAIL
The RM addition was ONLY an extra $7, but you had to use PAPER TAPE ONLY and cover ALL seams...

we have hashed and rehashed this in another thread.
US Customs form can be tracked on USPS site where you plug in the DC number, but it just shows your package has travelled from one port to another, and not to a residential address.
Some one said he has talked to a Paypal employee over the phone and was told Paypal would accept US customs number as proof of delivery.
But so far there is no written policy coming from Paypal which said US customs number is proof of delivery for seller protection.
Also his address must be confirmed ,what good is it to track a package to an unconfirmed address??

As HaHa says, tis a MOOT POINT, since the PayPal SELLERS' UNPROTECTION PLAN applies ONLY to USA, CANADA, and da UK...

That's right and you have it wrong as usual. Once it leave the US system, you go to the respective countries' postal system and input the customs or tracking number for further details.

Unknown to me at the time you can track the US Customs form number on the receiving countries postal service website. In the thread link above about 3/4 of the way down just look for my post with the WOOHOO's and then the link to the Austrailian website that has links to all the major country postal websites tracking links.

my concern is what is the BIG DEAL??
If we accept payment thru Paypal and it is an unconfirmed address, what does tracking buy us?
If it is a confirmed address, and it is over 250 dollars,we will need signature receipt?Does this customs tracking show his signature??
As for USPS indemnity, sound good until we try to collect it.
I would rather cut all that BS and go to U-PIC or DSI to buy me some insurance,it only costs a few dollars.

The ones I veiwed on the UK and Austrailian sites for packages I had send DID show signatures of receipt that were veiwable online.
edited to add: I forgot to mention that I agree with the insurance. I require insurance on all international shipments. Now that I have switched to endicia.com for printing shipping labels I can get insurance through them from U-PIC at a rate that is much less than the USPS insurance. Wish I had started using endicia.com a long time ago.

thank you all. I know that this has been discussed over & over but I didn't have time this morning to review past threads as I had to head to my mom as she was being released from the hospital today and I haven't been focused on Ebay and all the trival crap that goes with it lately.
I didn't mean to start anything. Just pretend that I am a blond deep down(no offense to the blonds on this board).

thanks,Mike.
If you think U-PIC is cheap, try DSI,Tom will be here soon to tell you more.
one more question-the signature shown, what kind of package is it??

Most everything I send goes Airmail Parcel Post. Here's some screen captures of the Canada and UK postal websites with tracking done with the US Customs form number and also a screen capture of the signature where they signed for the package (no I did not pay for any additional services).
Like I said in the previous post. It will be great if all the UPU countries start doing this.

are they big packages which would not fit in the mailbox??
I am wondering if all packages with customs forms need to be signed or just those which cant be left in the mail box??

Any package with the 2976 form has a spot where the adressee has to sign. If you use the green form there is no signature required. I send all international mail by Global Airmail Post and they have to have the 2976 that I print on line. You also need the buyers phone number for the form. If they do not want to give the phone number I charge them the insurance charge. Again all UPU countries do not have this fully set up but it will be in time and you will be able to track all UPU countries packages on line.
