Hey! That's great news! I'd be willing to guess that they'll probably get it up and running ASAP so they can start recouping some of that 1.8 million they spent to buy it. Let's hope they don't change too many things, though!

Does anyone see a court battle coming up. You can bet now that ebay has forbidden the name bidpay on their site, anyone putting it back in once Bidpay does relaunch, will have their listings zapped and possibly become NARU.

I am looking forward to having another method of payment for auctions. I am so sick of paypal that anything else is better. In the past 3 mths I have had my account limited 3 times and every time they want me to change something else, the latest is that since I have 2 business accounts that is against paypal rules and they want me to convert one account to a personal account. Before that they want me to confirm the SSN, before that confirm my bank account, before that want me to confirm my address. All these on an account that I have had opened since paypal opened it's doors. The latest encounter has put me out for 1 1/2 and after all the faxes and emails and calls they still have not fixed my account.
So YES I am so ready for a different online payment service, bring it on so that I can drop this stup#@ paypal service!!!

once burnt, twice cautious...if Bidpay reappears, i won't be offering it as a service. i'm tired of editing listings to remove stuff. Bidpay closing in December with only 7 days' notice left a really bad taste in my mouth.

chessguy,
why dont you apply for your own merchant account?
or use propay which is more expensive.

Hwahwa, I do have a merchant account, just have not found the software to intergrate the merchant account into auctions.
I am so sick of paypal right now, first it was amazon, they closed my account and they have been holding my money over 3K, hopefully I will get that back next month, that is when it will be 3 mths since they close the account, now it is paypal there is over 2k in that account. Now I have to go in and change ALL my auctions so that payment will not be send to my paypal account, because even though my paypal account is limited, I can still accept payments but can not withdraw my money this stinks.

I'd also be glad to see bidpay come back, only if the service level was at least as good as the original provided. For me, towards the end, the span between the order date, and the actual date the m/o was received was getting longer.
Not being able to mention bidpay (or auctionchex for that matter) in one's item description would be a hindrance, but I think we can still mention accepting them in EOA emails, or in non-ebay emailed responses to questions.
