To those of you out there who feel that God has imbued them with the responsibility to police this board I have this to say:
Is this board for eBay issues? "YES"
Is it the responsibiity of all who use this board to keep it pretty clean? "YES"
Is an off topic question going to end the world as we know it? "NO"
Some individuals out there see this board as a valuable source of information and the people who frequent it as an informed group. Therefore, when they have a question that is of major importance they come here for guidance and input. This action does not make them the Anti-Christ!!!
I have a suggestion for those who don't like off topic questions:
In your right hand is a small item called a mouse. On the left side of the mouse is a button called a clicker. When you see an off topic question don't push the clicker. It's a simple theory but it will save the rest of us from having to hear your rantings!!!!

I guess this means we can discuss politics over here now and then a whole lot more peoples opinions on different issues can be expressed.

I don't think the problem here on the ebay outlook board is off topic post. I think the real problem is lately there has been alot of, how shall we say, fellow vendio user bashing going on. Lately post here on the EO board have been looking more and more like post from the RT (which I do not visit anymore). I don't have a problem with the occasional off topic post here and I doubt there are many people that do. But the recent just downright rudeness is getting a little out of hand.

I'm with Mike on this.
There are a few people on this board that I will sometimes take a gentle shot at, when they persist in posting exceptionally ignorant things. However, there are sometimes entire threads devoted to ridiculing respected members (perhaps not respected by all, but respected by many). It has not been pleasant on this board for a while because threads that are ON topic are hijacked by people with malice and disrespect in their postings.
And, for what it's worth, very few of the off topic posts have OT in the subject.

piinthesky - i think anyone who wants to express politics has found the way down to the RT. Folks up here either don't care about politics or don't care to discuss politics.
If you think about Vendio as a virtual office building, the EO is the water cooler and the RT is the lunch room. Some of us just choose to eat at our desks.

Vendio has a feature whereby you can block messages from any individual.Just click on her/his user name and you see the feature.

Neglus,
I used politics merely as an example in my post. I was more suggesting that if we were to go along with Capolady's suggestion that everyone has a mouse in their right hand and they do not have to click on a topic then that must mean that there is no purpose for the RT anymore because we can now discuss anything over here. Or can we?
Can discussions here on the EO remain civil? I guess not because as Cashinyourcloset pointed out that s/he takes a shot at someone once in awhile and Mikes4x4 pointed out his observations on fellow user bashing going on here at the EO looking more like the RT lately.
I do know that the people that administer this board want it to be a clean Ebay related and/or internet commerce related in general board without all the off topic, opinionated and sometimes rude type threads clogging up the thread list. That is why they have the RT and it is what it's purpose is for.
I'm all for off topic threads in the EO but it's just a matter of time before Vendio puts a stop to them, especially if people are more and more becoming rude towards each other.
Vendio doesn't lock threads anymore that they deem inappropriate, instead they just delete them, without warning or explaination, leaving you to scratch your head and wonder why.

piinthesky,
Cashinyourcloset is a he, and he acknowledges taking a shot, but if you've ever read my posts, they are relatively genteel shots, and wouldn't be out of place at most polite dinner tables. I think that any shot of mine is -6db down from what instigated it, and I reserve them for people who are over the top.
I doubt that anyone can point to a posting of mine that wasn't civil. I surely wouldn't stoop to pointing out that someone had recently purchased a bra, that my forum neighbors were low-class and should go back to their hay-wagons, that someone is a moron, etc. I think my nastiest comment in a year was for the hay-wagon poster, a troll really, who I went so far as to call weird. Please accept my apologies, but if you read that thread, mine surely wasn't the most exercised comment in the thread.

Please post off-topic (politics, bra purchases, etc) discussions to the Amazon.com Auctions forum, especially when there is a full moon.

Stop - if you don't understand how completely out of line that post was, there is no hope for you.
Everyone here puts up with the nonsense posts, the complete irrelevence, the comments that come from out of the blue... but searching a persons purchase history and then posting it here for absolutely no reason is is just flat out rude and out of line. There is just no justifcation for it.
Truth be told - I think it think it's scuzzy and pervish. The fact that you think it's funny says much about you.
And yes - I am one of those that calls a spade a spade. I'll call Stop an idiot, a fool, a troll, or a perv whenever I feel his comments justify it.

You are the one that said you were male about a year or so ago on aN RT thread and then confirmed it later in another thread when there was a question about it.
If you can't keep your story straight - how do you expect anyone else to?
