Anyone have one of these?

I'm not usually lured into infomercials but this one is actually something I could use right now.

I have an Oreck XL vacuum and ..well... I'd say it sucks excepts that's what vacuums are supposed to do and it doesn't. I have a Swiffer Clicker or whatever their carpet unit is called and it does a better job of picking stuff up than the Oreck. Problem is it has one time use inserts and it can get expensive using it daily.

I don't want to get a big vacuum since I have a perfectly good one in storage in San Diego, just something that I can run thru the office and pick up all the bits and pieces and hair. Just wondering if anyone has one of these and what you think of it.

Fenix-is that one of those sweepers that runs on batteries and it goes by itself?

I have an Oreck XL and love it.I also love the little cannister vacuum it came with...although I have yet to pick up an 8lb bowling ball..

Classic - that one that runs by itself is a Roomba - The Swizel Sweeper is kind of like a mini vac/electric broom/ with a base size looks about about the same as a Swiffer.

No I think she means these ones:
The URL didn't work - but search "swivel sweeper " on ebay there are a ton of them
I haven't used one of those. I got a kind of "dustbuster" with a long handle and rotating brush head after xmas at Target for $5 (they had it in Christmas packaging for some reason so it was 90% off) and it works swell for $5 - have to empty the little dirt holder when doing a big room though

like a Hoky? We used to use one in a bar I worked at and it worked great. Don't know about the other kinds.

Neglus - that is exactly the one. I need something I can just run across the room in the morning. I like the swizel feature on the Sweeper since I need something that can get in and around the desk and under my storage shelves.

I don't know what it is about this place but I think the dust is in fiber form. Whenever I run the Oreck, the front brush edge picks up a ton of something equivalent to dryer lint, but when you pull the vac back, it just leaves long strings of the lint sitting on the carpet. It doesn't vaccuum - it just consolidates and redistributes.

glassgrl...

Like you, I was once in the food service business, and when the carpets had kid-droppings that needed cleaning I would suggest that the server of the area “might want to feed Fred”. One enterprising young server actually scripted “Fred” on the Hoky – very fancy art work, too! – and Fred became our in-store work-joke.

To this day the simple statement “Fred is hungry” gets quick action from my teenage grandson – and with a smile on his face!

I too have been wondering about the Swivel Sweeper.

We have an Oreck XL, got it on QVC for $300+ and it came with the smaller handvac AND the iron. The iron was much too heavy for me to use, and I have a Rowenta that I love, so I sold the iron for about $30 on Ebay. My husband wasn't sure about the Oreck but loves the smaller canister handvac so much that he raves about it to friends! Like a TV commercial. We're very happy with the Oreck XL.

HOWEVER, sometimes between weekly or semi-weekly vacuumings (yes, we're careless but don't have pets so no problem) I'd like to use something like the swivel sweeper just to get some stuff off the floors.

I just bought a Eureka Optima bagless lightweight vac at WalMart for 57.00.
Bright dark blue in color.

It also has an attached hose & to use it you just turn a dial & switch from upright to hose.

Reason I bought it was, 1st it carries the Good Houskeeping seal & 2nd, price.
I love it.

I first bought a cheaper Eureka in Target, yellow color, 49.00 also with the Good Housekeeping seal, but returned it because it was so loud with a shattering high pitched scream you needed ear protection. This one didn't have the hose.

I also have a Roomba, it's just OK. What I don't like is I thought it would have a back & forth pattern to clean, but it will go across the rug & then go off in an entirely different direction. Kind of crazy, but cute. Takes a long time to clean too. Not worth the money though. I thought I would never have to push a vacuum again. No such luck.

oh shoot! what's the commercial where the guy is cleaning the floor with an upside down dog? you don't really recognize that it's a dog until he turns it over and it trots off. I laugh every time I see it.

I know exactly what commercial you are talking about Glass. Of course the bad thing is that neither one of us know what it's a commrcial for.

So how do you empty a dog vacumn?

I get 'sucked' into wanting everything I see on Infomercials - boy, would I kill for a giant ladder and I live in an apartment. When my son was 3, he begged for a Turbo-bonnet so he could dry his little crewcut. I did get the Shark electric Hoky, but gosh! I do need one that SWIVELS!

My candidate for most amazing infomercial is the one for a colon cleanser. This guy goes on and on about the length of his BM's, of his children's BM's - how much fecal material was in John Waynes body when he died (40 pounds)and they ran this twice a week during the lunch hour!

Yeah, WAY KEWL!

Ralphie wants to sell the ENEMA BOARD on eBay, but I warned him that sales might be a craps-shoot and his business could end up in the toilet!

Course, he responds:

"Always look out for NUMBER ONE..."

Ah - Now Carlton is a regular in my place.
He's my "Time to go to bed" alarm. Usually on around 3 or 4 am I know it's time for my 40 winks when Carlton comes on telling me how I can make millions with no credit and no cash.

He actually got "credited" by one of the financial contributors on Fox a couple weeks ago. They were saying that his devotees were the only thing propping up the housing market with current rising interest rates.
