Hi, all. We got connected this afternoon and I'm already loving the miraculous speed of the DSL (I know, you're all ahead of us--but we tend to resist "new" stuff).
I was researching a certain book on eBay just now, to send auctions to a friend. I sent one, and then when I found another auction for the book, there was a note at the top, "You have e-mailed this item to a friend." I know I hadn't sent the second one.
Then it happened to all the rest. I ignored the message and just sent the auctions to my friend.
Does this happen to you? What gives?

Hi Roadsmith I got my DSL last week and what I used to do in hours only takes minutes now. Just love it.

It's some sort of Ebay thing roadsmith...doesn't have anything to do with your switch to broadband. How could it?

I figured it's an eBay thing--but. . . I've been searching eBay and sending auctions here and there for 8 years and it's never happened until the Very Hour today that we got DSL. I hope it's just a glitch, because it can be very confusing.

Roadie , it is not your change to DSL, but simply a change of your internet security options that probably happened when they were configuring your DSL.
Previously your system was probably blocking the evil "spy" cookies that tracked your actions on FeeBay.
Most of them come from doubleclick.com, so if you want to block them again you can.
On your computer, click Start in the lower left of your screen, find "Control Panel" then start clicking> Internet Options > Restricted Sites> Sites >
add *.doubleclick.com to your restricted list.
Walla, no more (well, not as many) Ebay tracking cookies on your system.
While you have the internet options open, you also might want to click on the General tab and clear your cookies.

roadsmith- I just signed up for Verizon DSL this morning. We just got it in our remote area. I should have it activated by May 1st. I cannot wait! I hate dial-up! I think it will actually cost less, once I cancel Earthlink and my second phoneline.

Twig, you will love DSL (now that I'm a convert, I'm preaching, LOL). Our charges are exactly half what they'd been on dial-up.
LtRay: Thanks for the info. I'll do what you suggest.

I installed DSL last weekend. I have it through SBC. It is so much easier now. My son and I can be on at the same time now. I showed him Google Earth.(Couldnt do that too well with my old dial up) He has been having fun looking at the great wall of china and other things.
I am getting prepared to do a big ebay thing with this speed. I will be out of work soon. So, while I am looking for a new job, I will list list and list some more. That is when i will start my ebay store too.

Thanks for this thread, roadsmith! I'm in the dark ages (Windows 95) and STILL on dial-up...but am having serious thoughts about switching to DSL...and your comments have about sealed the deal for me. Guess I've been concerned that all of my eBay "stuff" and e-mail would disappear into cyberspace oblivion and I'd have to start all over again...I'm gonna do it...I'm gonna do it! Thanks!

I have verizon DSL and find now that all my spam and phishing e-mails have gone into my bulk e-mail box- ocassionalyy I do get an e-mail that is a personal one that should go into my inbox but it is nice to just delete them that way since I still use outlook express. One thing I did find out from Verizon whem I had trouble connecting to my server was that the modem is not designed to be on for a very long time. Turning the switch in the back off and then on solves the problem
