Morning all,
I have a buyer from France that wants to pay me by way of an AXABANQUE check. Will US banks accept this form of payment? I bank with WAMU, will they charge me. Normally they do not charge for International money orders in US dollars.
Has anyone experience this form of payment? I need to get back to the buyer with an answer.
TIA
Mama

I haven't heard of it before. I would suggest Not accepting it. Even if they send a bank international money order in US dollars, banks can and will charge fees to cash it. Mine charges alot for those. I gave up on them. I have had people from France pay me in cash or money transfer via western union. They pay on their end at a western union office and I picked it up at a western uion office near me. You might want to check with the US post office to see if a postal money order from france is accepted here by them. If so, there would be no charges involved. I don't think France is one of the countries that the US postal service has an agreement with. I could be wrong. You can either contact your local post office or the 1-800 ask usps number (I think that's the right number to contact them)
Maybe someone else has more ideas than I

Most banks in CANADA sell MOs IN USD, DRAWN ON A USA BANK, which are easily deposited in one's checking account because they are basically a USA check...
Check with yer buyer & see if this is what they are talking about...
If that's NOT what they mean, then it sounds like they're trying to send you a FRENCH personal CHECK!
Pigs would fly over the White Cliffs of Dover, yodeling "You Ain't Nuttin But A Hound-dog" before Ralphie would accept one of those, as they be WORTHLESS to our BANQUE (First of FROSTBITE FALLS)

Thank you for the input.
I did call WAMU this morning to inquire about the fee, the CS person stated that as long as it was in US dollars than I am OK. But I came to the board to inquire as I have not heard of this form of payment so I just would like to cover my a$$.
Tom-I did sent out my International invoice to this buyer with my acceptable International payment forms but of course as usual, they are trying to change my terms.
So I take it that no one has used this form of payment yet?
Mama
PS they do have a website but that means squat in my eyes as anyone can set up a website today.

Mama-Mia:
Doesn't sound like they have any kind of novel new PAYMENT METHOD to me-&-Ralphie! It just sounds like their trying to pawn off a personal cheque on you...
Messr. Ralphie duDaug says to reply thusly: "Oui!Oui! a la USA greenbackeroos, SVP! Non! Non! to yer ROTTEN checques!"

I would nail this WAMU staff who said as long as it is in US dollars,it is fine.
Ask him/her what is an AXABANQUE check??
(It is not fine when WAMU finds out it is not one of the regular dancing partners in this great Saturday night bank to bank clearance ESTRAVANGANZA!)Check this out-

"What does Canadian money order has to do with her French buyer??"
To illustrate a point that some countries' banks are set up to be as USA-friendly as possible...TIS WHY I said to ask the buyer if their bank was offering the same type of instrument: A MO IN USD DRAWN ON A USA BANK -- these are VERY COMMON coming from our CANADIAN bretheran. If that be also available with our FRENCH FRIENDS, then that is EASILY deposited in a USA account, as it is essentially just a USA MONEY ORDER!
It sounds more like this "buyer" is just trying to cheapo his way out by sending a WORTHLESS FRENCH personal check...

mamachia. you asked WAMU if they accept that form of payment and they said yes. Which is the same as my bank did but ask them what are the fees and how long it takes to process. When will the funds show up in your account?

It is actually Axa Banque and it is a French Bank and Tom is probably right you would be getting a personal check.
