Got this lamp for $15.00. I don't think I'm going to be able to part with it. Even the shade is wood! It's a very large lamp. By the looks of the cord I'd say 1940's. Does this look like Arts & Crafts to anyone else? It gives off the most marvelous glow because of the wood shade. This just may be a keeper!

Don't take this wrong, cause I think it's great. It looks like a cross between tramp art and dad had some leftover lumber.

Cheryl...It's a great looking lamp. One suggestion though, if the cord looks original from the 40's, I would replace it before I used the lamp. Don't dispose of the old cord. You may wish to sell the lamp to a purist or collector sometime, and he will be able to restore it to "original". But if you will be using the lamp, by all means replace that cord with a new one.

I LOVE THAT LAMP. I WANT THAT LAMP! It's absolutely wonderful. It does look like arts and crafts a little bit but I agree that it appears homemade. Wonderfully done, though. I'd happily buy it from you.
How high is it?

Arts and Crafts 101 project maybe, but it ain't no Stickley, that's for sure.

Gotta love that room. Actually, we're in the process of remodeling everything. Someone decided to panel most of the downstairs back in the 1970's. The house was built in 1915 and I'd like to take it back to that time. The only paneling we may keep is the wormy chestnut in the dining room.
I know it's handmade. It's beautifully done so whoever did it knew what they were doing. It may have been made for someone's cabin.

I'll get back to you. You are now the 3rd person wanting the lamp. A dealer friend of mine wants it for his cabin. He's the one that first called it Arts & Crafts. I'll offer it to you first should I decide to part with it.

Russel Wright made a lamp with a base much like this. Of course, his was more Mid Century Modern than yours.
It's more Adirondack than Arts & Crafts (as in Stickley) to me.
It's really great and does look good in that room.

Looks more "rustic" or maybe "pseudo rustic" to me than arts and crafts. My father was a hobby woodworker in the the 40s to 60s and it reminds me of some of his projects, well made but a bit bizarre. Especially the little wood chips on the edges seem contrary to the arts and crafts credo. My feeling about it; charming and fun but not arts and crafts.

Thanks for keeping me in mind, Cheryl. I think it's a real treasure--and I think you could get very good money for it on eBay.
