Hi, all: I need another (third) Mavica battery for my Sony Mavica 73. Would you mind looking at this link and telling me if you feel this is on the up and up? Should I assume it's new, not reconditioned? The price is lower than I've paid in the past. Thanks! ~Adele

I would say it's new because of this statement.
Sony NP-F550 battery by Amstron is designed to replace the Sony NP-F330, NP-F530, and NP-F550 camcorder and digital camera batteries.
I just don't know much about Amstron batteries or if they are any good or not, but the price is certainly right.
I have a Mavica 73 too & am still using the original Sony battery.

Check out 2nd link first.
http://www.nextag.com/norob/PtitleSeller.jsp?chnl=main&tag=36111232&ptitle=61843069&
Check this out, same battery & cheaper.
I did a search on Consumer Reports & couldn't find anything on Amstron, but did see many of them on Google & they are starting to look good to me & they say New.
Edited because I found a cheaper one & it claims to be better than the original Sony battery!
Check out the second battery............

Morning Adele,
I found one Ebay for much less including shipping & seller's feedback seems OK.

Thanks, you two! I'll look into those links in a little bit. I'm still using the two batteries I've had for a while--the one that came with the camera 7 years ago and the spare I bought a couple of years ago. But I suspect they've somehow lost their poop and little--and I can always use a third one to have handy. ~Adele

Bought a new in package NoMem Lenmar550 replacement battery on Ebay for $24.00 plus shipping a couple of years back. Has up to 5 hrs run time and no memory. Works in my charger and fits in an FD71 and an FD75. NO problems! Wish I could remember the seller's ID since I am certain they would have a store by now.

Roadsmith...There are three types of rechargeable batteries available to consumers: The Ni-Cad, the Ni-Mh, and the Lithium Ion. It's important that you determine what type your original was and get the same type as a replacement. If you wish to replace a Ni-Cad with one of the other two types, you need to contact the seller first and make sure it will be compatible with the original charger. If not, you will need to obtain a charger for the new battery. I would suspect that replacement batteries would have circuitery built into the case to make them compatible, but you want to make sure first. There's nothing that can ruin a battery quicker (along with the guarantee) than the wrong charger.

Sterlingtek in New Mexico which irked mentioned was the seller I bought my NP550 battery from. It charges in the charger that came with myFD71 and fits in either the FD71 and the FD75 so you should have no problem with an FD73. Seller is very reliable about shipping. Can be contacted by phone also.

buy high small world using the same seller. I think they are very reliable I use to have their phone number maybe it is on their store page. They also sent the battery direct to my Mom making it so much better than me getting it and then having to reship. Lot of sellers won't do that for you. Sterlingtek also has or had a regular website to purchase from, haven't check on that lately. I have recommended this person to about 3 of my other friends that all used him for batteries.

The last battery I got from Sterlingtek for my Sony Mavica is a Lithium -Ion. Actually it is the 2nd battery I got from them and a different brqnd name from the first which was a Sony NPf330. Actually I imagine the supplier changes in time but if the battery is compatable with the original - who cares?

One question: Some of you have mentioned 6-hour batteries. Do they really last that much longer than the normal 2-hour? If so, I'm game.

Road, YES they last much longer. I have 2 batteries and never am out of power well so far. If I did run out of power then I would have to take so many pictures I would be too tired to care if I ran out of power. LOL Got to love these kind of batteries.

Thanks, everyone! Here's what I've done: I've ordered one regular battery and one 6-hour that comes with another charger. Now I'll be set up for a long time with my precious Mavica 73. I appreciate your help. ~Adele
