I have never tried it but I think I'd better figure some of these things out fast. My question is: Can you print out a mailing label through ebay or is it ebay/paypal without being paid through paypal?
You print out your label, already addressed with recipient's confirmed address, through PayPal. All you need to do is add the type of mail you are sending (package, envelope, etc.), the weight of the package and if you want to add insurance. If the customer has paid for insurance, the radio button is already checked. The shipping funds will be withdrawn from your account balance. Delivery confirmation is included at no additional charge. You can also click on the shipping info link a few days later and find out when your shipped package was delivered.
I use PayPal shipping labels only, and have never had a problem. So easy to print out my copy (yes, I keep paper records as well as computer records), the paid invoice for the customer and the label in a one-stop-shop procedure.
I do cut off the eBay and PayPal logos on the top and bottom of the address label. One extra step. One less possibility that the item will get 'lost in the mail'.

none at all stop....very easy to use. Pretty much just fill in the blanks (type of shipping and weight of package). The sellers name and address already on the page. You can choose if you want the shipping price to show or not and you can choose to insure or not. Like Ladyjewels said you'll never look back.

I printed a test label and then submitted for a refund through Paypal and never received the refund. I'll stick with Endicia, much easier to deal with than Paypal.

I'll stick with Endicia to. I get discounted postage (pay for postage with PayPal debit card), can print all class's of mail to include international letter post and GPM. I can print postage on envelopes, post cards, do international M-Bag and on and on... It also automatically imports the package info from vendio to include package weight. For me it's 10 times faster than PayPal postage and as a added bonus you can also get Endicia insurance for your package at the same time at much lower rates than USPS. Wish I has started using them years ago and not months ago. Everytime I had to do a E-refund through Endicia (usually a oops on my part) I have alway's gotten a refund.

Well, I just tried to print a label through ebay/paypal. You don't have a choice. Want to print a label, log into paypal to do it. When you try to print a label, paypal asked you to PAY for the label and I guess the postage, which in this case would have been wrong. I guess I am back to hand writing out the labels until I can figure out how to do it online. Maybe I'll just use the Word program to print one out.
At the VERY LEAST, PRINT YOUR LABELS with the VALIDATED (through the USPS EMS) & STANDARDIZED ADDRESS...Here's a nifty FREE site that does all da WERK:
Let's see if I understand this correctly: You went to print a label via eBay/PayPal, but you did not want to pay postage, and you didn't know what it weighed?
If that's correct, you should probably continue to either hand write or print your address label in Word. The USPS site does NOT work on parcel post, first class or media mail.
If you have priority packages, Click and Ship would be fine and give you option to not pay and still get free delivery confirmation (flat rate or variable rate -- but they do ask for the weight so not sure how that works if you have an incorrect weight when you go to PO?)

If you just want to print a label just go to the main page on paypal and click "details" beside the name you want to print. It will show you the item and address etc. At bottom of the page, you see print a label.
