i am soooooooooooo distraught upon hearing this news! eBay's singular unresponsive 'tude towards its sellers will come back eventually to bite them in the behind.

Well...

I've only listed two (yeah...TWO) items on GOOGLE BASE, as I've found it to be a GIANT PITA to list -- takes me around 10min/listing, compared with about 2min for feeBay...

I don't think google is cutting into ebay sales, but rather they are giving ebay less publicity via the web searches.

Now let me ask you, Has anyone successfully sold something or a few things on google base yet? I haven't tried it but am thinking about it.

I started to list something and someone told me I was probably already on it. So, I went to google base and typed in my storename. Over 9000 listings popped up. Then I searched for one particular listing and it popped up. So, as far as I know I did nothing and yet, presto-chango.

I can say all of my Yahoo and Epier listings have been showing up on Google for a couple of years now. Maybe longer, but that is when I started to notice them.

Let me get this straight. Google isn't really ISN"T "Google is increasingly infringing on eBay's territory and limiting the online auctioneer's growth potential, ..." It's helping it by increasing the visability of a seller's auctions.

I sure wish google or someone/something would really put a dent into ebay's and take a little of it's market share by a good auction site that is growing. Well, I think you all know what I mean

If you have a blog or use google adsense advertising on your website, google boosts you in their search. You just open an account with google and apply to be an affliate - yes there is some spam on your website or blog but you can control as to how much - not only did it boost my ranking, I also made ten bucks off the advertising. I am for anything that will take a bite out of the azz of ebay.

I think that adfram mediaplex is an ebay feed.

Have you turned on your RSS feed Beth and Tom?

Mention RSS feed around RALPHIE, & he would try to chow down!

Here are instructions from a poster on ebay store boards:

wprayers (1178 ) View Listings | Report May-21-06 03:56 PDT 4 of 5
Greetings Misty,

It's not quite as hard as it sounds ... especially after you do it once.

FIRST: You need to turn-on your "feeds". Follow this path to do so:
My eBay > Manage My Store > Listing Feeds (left column)

Make sure both feed are turned on for distribution.

SECOND: Go to Google base and set-up an account. Go to this URL:
http://Base.Google.com

once you create your account, sign into it. Along the top you will see a link called "Bulk Upload Files". Click on that. You will need to "Specify A Bulk Upload File" ... click the link and give your file a "name".

After you do that, visit the converter tool at this URL:
http://www.thelongwayhome.com/Utilities/ConvertToBase.aspx

Follow the directions to convert your file. After the conversion, make sure to save your file on your computer under the same name that you specified when you were on the Google site.

After you have converted and saved the file, return to Google Base and upload the file.

If you have any more questions, just post them here and either I or someone else can certainly try to answer them for you.

- Chris -

From today's New York Times

Yahoo and eBay Form Advertising Alliance
By SAUL HANSELL
EBay secured new ways to make money from its large audience, and Yahoo opened up more ad opportunities.
EBAY's stock moved up about 9% on the announcement. Hope it helps auction sales!

And we can look forward to the P*N*S Enhancement Yahoo sponsored Ads we were treated to by Vendio? THat will go over like a lead balloon!

Edited to ad: Who uses Yahoo search any more?? I am not thrilled with ebay's choice of partners to say the least. Google is where IT's (except the famous ebay "IT" at. I feel like ebay is hitching its wagon to a dying horse (at least in US market).
