I won three auctions from a seller two weeks back, ncie books, cheap price.

I sent multiple e-mails and requests for shipping information (they had listed U.S. shipping costs only in their auction, they are in Canada, I am in the same province in Canada, requested shipping costs).

No answer to any.

Pulled their contact information and phoned them.

Said will send shipping costs, didn't.

Today I get e-mail, gee sorry, busy, gonna be traveling, let's just call the whole thing off, and I won't leave negative feedback for you.

WHAT!?!

My feeling is they simply don't want to part with it for the low bid they got.

Other than leaving them negative feedback, are there any other steps with eBay that a bidder can take against a seller when seller shirks the sale?

These were nice books for my personal collection that I've been searching for awhile, and I'm pi**ed the seller won't honor their auction.

You can file a non-performing seller report.

Did you use your selling ID to bid?

I asked that because they sound like the kind who might leave three negs after you file NPS reports and that may be something that concerns you.

"My feeling is they simply don't want to part with it for the low bid they got."

You're probably right.

And even if the NPS dispute forces them to sell to you, you sure as hell won't like the shipping and handling charges they quote.

well you can post their selling ID so we can all avoid them like the plague.......

really - your assumption sounds about right.

do they take PayPal? Did you try paying for the auction with the stated US shipping prices? Just a thought.

Hi all.

Yep used seller ID, wouldn't have changed result if I had used some other one, the books went way low, unfortunately the seller won't live with it.

He sent a reply e-mail with a very specific you leave neg you get neg comment, so obviously no further remedy.

So I've left negative comments for the jerk, undoubtedly will get return ones but don't care a bit about that, my own seller feedback is too high for it to matter anymore and my response comments will let anyone reading them know the real story.

Darn though! It'll be awhile before I find another set of these books at such a bargain price! Now I can see why bidders get so turned off by dishonest eBay sellers, and this is a minor thing compared to many, but aggravating nonetheless.

I've been selling full-time on eBay for 7 years now, and doing this to some bidder has simply never occurred to me, if I start something low and it ends there, well the bidder gets a bargain, and my shipping is still the same, not more.

Oh well, moving on...

If you file the NPS, and they have done this before or they do it again, eBay may sanction them in some way.

As you've already left the negs I say go for the NPS too.

If they dont want to sell, they can always say they are damaged or stolen or lost.
Have you thought of asking how much they will sell them for??

and sellers wonder why eBay has such bad reputation.

Yep file the NPS and leave it be, if they quote you unreasonable shipping and handling file a fee avoidance against them.

hwahwa why would the winning bidder need to aks what they would sell them for? Seller is scum and needs to be avoided.

Your seller is not very bright or, apparently, experienced. There are several ways he could have avoided selling them to you, all perfectly legal.

Stop mentioned one: Item is lost/stolen/broken.

Another would be to invoice you promptly and accept payment by PayPal, even print out a label, but not ship. You get testy, file a Not Received claim with PayPal, and guess what? Seller refunds your money. Seller is happy, PayPal is happy and you're left wondering if that was a turnip truck that just hit you.

Let's face it, in the real world you cannot force anyone to sell you what you want, either. Thems the breaks.

Two parts.

First is my two cents. I would have never bid on the item until I had the answer to any questions I may have had. Asking them after the auction ends is too late. Technically you would be at the mercy of this unresponsive seller.

It does sound as if this seller is bad news.

Second.

He sent a reply e-mail with a very specific you leave neg you get neg comment, so obviously no further remedy.

It would seem to me that this is feedback extortion. Turn them into ebay and include the full headers of the e-mail. It is highly against Ebay's rules and one of the few things they do act upon.

It would seem to me that this is feedback extortion.

Wrong, as usual. Do you ever even READ the Help pages?

Feedback extortion is demanding goods or services not included in the original listing.

As in "Send me TWO of those bracelets or I will leave you negative feedback."

Simply stating that negative feedback will be reciprocated is perfectly fine. I do it all the time.

File for non-performing seller. (ebay will problably ask to see the email headers as poof.)

If he does it to others, he will get NARU'd.

Anyhoo, stonecold, I did ask him about shipping while auction was on, he replied, no problemo, I'll give you best deal I can, I can even meet you when I'm in Vancouver on business. He just didn't like the fact no one jumped in to bid the items up higher, even though in his description he said here's your chance to get 'em cheap. The main book ended at $9.00, the last one on eBay went over $100.00, but then, they did a better job in listing it.

Soooo, left him three intense negs. Upshot is no negs back, and tonight he is no longer registered. I think he simply self-imploded, his overall f/b was good, close to 1600 with only a half dozen or so negs, but perhaps my chagrin bummed him out or something.

Anyway, good riddance (seems to be the term of the day!).

I never did report him to Big E.

I'd report hime anyway make it harder for him to get back in bigE's graces. Or maybe not you might can't file since he is naru--ed.
OH well good for you neg-ing his butt.

I just now got a buyers remorse sounding email from my buyer on a high dollar item that she bid the heck out of and wanted real bad apparently. She had a week bidding everyday several times to read read read the auction. Now 6 days later she is asking questions about it saying she is sending payment (as I would not accept Paypal on that one auction) BUT first wanted --- well here is her email message through ebay copy and pasted as is------
I will be sending payment today, but before I send payment there is one thing that is bodering me. Is all the close hand made by your wife and a seamstress? because you mention it, but I been going over the pictures and I don't see any with labels only the cloths the dolls are wearing and maybe the box with the leopard print but the box isn't 1960's

MY description is VERY specific on all details. SO I am betting she has buyers remorse and will be backing out. I am just holding my breath but not too excited to get this email after her week long bidding and final win. She is also new but has been getting great feedback and also bidding on extreme number of dolls like the ones in my auction.

**************
I married my wife for her looks...but not the
ones she's been giving me lately!
