I am returning to Vendio for listing but can't figure out how I will know which item is which (for changing from store to auction and back etc).

My listing service lets me put the sku# right there on my closed listing page so I can sort them by that and work with them as needed. I keep all my postcards in boxes with individual SKU numbers for each.

But, when these close it looks like I won't have any idea what is what? I marked it to put the sku on the invoice so I can print those to pull my sold cards, but how do you keep up with relists etc?

Especially on FP sale days when I would want to list just specific cards?

I don't use anything as fancy as SKU's - the "UNSOLD" item page has little icons designating ebay store items (they also show "FP" for Fixed Price), FP items have an FP but no store icon, and auctions are plain. I keep track of it all by using different prices (last digit in price tells me where it is) - for example my new lists all end in "9" (this may change with bidding) - they start at 6.99 etc. My relists end in "8" - this could also change but starting price would be 6.98. Most of my store items end in "7" but here is where it gets complicated so I will stop here...LOL..only my daughter and husband who help me ship have any idea how I do it.

I still use the Merchandising Edition (Inventory didn't seem like it would work very well for unique items but I have to admit that I really didn't give it a try - the learning curve seemed to be too high).

I put items in the store in bulk using ebay and then import to Vendio-I don't think that will work with your system though because I would guess the SKU would be lost. Once in the store, the cards stay in the store unless I decide to put some of the higher priced ones on the market on a listing sale day.

Aren't you at ebay live???

I should add that I keep my cards filed by date listed (or relisted) until they are finally placed in the store. Vendio's post sale_>unsold is sorted by date so I use that as my source for determining relists etc.

Half of my store is filed by state (and city in big states) and the other half by EBAY NUMBER - I know the breakoff ebay number for where to look for each card so it isn't REALLY as complicated as it sounds

You are better at juggling than I am

I was sick all night so decided to wait until afternoon to venture out at Ebay Live. Going to be leaving soon.

Guess I'll just have to wing it because I agree with you about the learning curve with the inventory edition. I think it will be more trouble than it is worth to try and use it.

The only really important thing is to be sure something didn't sell already before relisting in store. Do you use GTC?

I've just grown used to grabbing a handful and running down my list to see if I want to adjust the price, change anything etc before reposting and I can't see anyway to do that on Vendio. My other service worked great but my database is getting too big and I'm afraid I'll lose it all someday (even with backup). I'm ready to get it off my computer and onto a listing company's.

Plus I want to be able to schedule some of my listings in other areas so I can combine my two seller ID's and sell everything under this one.

I never double list ( at least not in recent memory - I did have a problem before Vendio even acknowledged stores). I use Vendio Post-sale unsold as a "Bible" and an unsold item will only appear there once (sorted by date unsold). When it it time to relist - I go back to the oldest date of "unsolds" and then find the appropriate stack of cards (I put the cards rubberbanded together between two rigid postcard sleeves with a sticky on the inside of the front showing the date listed when I list them and keep them in this order when I ship the sold from the pile). When I am ready to move to the store, I use the ebay list ( also sorted by dates) and then go back and archive the Vendio unsold listings. I do use GTC - too many items to worry about relisting every 30 days and since I file by ebay number, I would mess EVERYTHING UP if I did relist!

Mine are in boxes with my number starting at PC101 and up to pc4048 (for now).

When I get ready to list new ones I use the numbers of sold items over again to replace the old photos and keep my image host clean. (my photos are numbered the same number as my postcard).

This will take some getting used to on my part. I'll have to give it some thought. It has been very easy to just go to the box with 2500-2900 and pull what sells or review that box for relists.

Wonder how I can make this work for me?
I may have to take a second look at the inventory edition...but I like using SMPro offline and it only works with Merchandising

Once you work with it you probably will find a way to make it work for you. My sister (pixiamom) has one way and I have another - of course we each think ours is the best LOL..I have to admit that mine has evolved and is way too complex!

I use the variable rate sales manager plan with more image storage than I will use in a lifetime so I don't worry much about image hosting space. Vendio does have a neat "search" images feature to find them when you need them. I have a couple of image folders set up with titles like "OLD NOT VIEWED SINCE SEPT 2004" (think I would be safe in deleting those) Every once in awhile I set up a folder like that and plan to go in and delete images that haven't been viewed in several months (years as it works out now).

Have fun at LIVE - come and report back with any gossip!

I have been using Vendio since it started and have been on ebay and have used SKU's since 1999. I put my SKU(scan number) at the end of each listing description and also keep my thousands of postcards in boxes by SKU. The advantages are obvious but a few are 1)I type one number diget when creating a scan file(no long ebay type numbers to worry about). I can find any item by simple sort on ebay or in my store instantly. I also keep all my cards in an excel file on my two computers which I can easily upload by batch for launch to my Vendio Store, Ebay auctions, ebay Fixed Price or Ebay store. Chuck

I still keep my cards sorted by location or topical. I've always thought that a numerical filing system made more sense but haven't figured out a system that is speedy in listing, filing, reporting and pulling. As my store grows and my (and my mother's, who helps me) sight deteriorates, more and more cards get misfiled.

chuck:

How can you easily find the card listings to move to store or from store to fixed price on special listing days?

I thought about putting my number in the subject but decided I would have to put it first to sort that way and that would be distracting.

Pixiamom: I give each card it's own number and just keep them in photo boxes in numerical order. So, when I print the invoice I can go right to that card.

With my old system the sku # was there in the inventory view and in the current and recent spreadsheet so I could end them if I needed to and relist in store.

I know that no management program will satisfy everything, and Vendio appears to be very quick for making listings (which is what I'm needing now) but it is going to be hard giving up that number

Stone: I live in Vegas, so the novelty wore off long time ago. But, I did win $120 on a poker machine while I was waiting for the Keynote speech....and I had only put a $20 in it

Best part of the keynote was watching Davey Jones of the Monkees perform at the end. He put on a great show! Lasted nearly an hour.

I maintain a excel database with columns for the following:
SKU Title Cost Start Bid Qty Description Image Shipping Carrier Category Ebay Shipping New Instant Buy Hits-3mos Hits 1 Mo Post to Store

If you put the SKU at the end of a listing you can use the "find" (ctl/alt) feature to find the sku on froogle, google, ebay etc. Try typing #cd106a into www.froogle.com. Results in Vendio store will show. Type Postcard CD #cd106a into Google and my eBay store result will show. eBay,same result. I currently have pulled my thousands of postcards off ebay for summer but can within a few hours upload by importing them as batches to Vendio and from Vendio to ebay, store, auctions etc. My system is very different from most but I firmly belive in it. One other tip,I just stamp or write the number on a small postit and file the cards by number this way. Hope this helps. Chuck

Thanks Chuck.

I do the very same thing with the postit. I cut one small one into strips and use a small strip to write the number on. It makes it very easy to locate the cards when they are sold.

I'll have to see what I can do with finding the cards on Vendio. I'm also going to play around with the inventory edition. A rep told me I could still use SMPro and import the listings into inventory...but I haven't been able to find that part of the help yet. The manual for the inventory edition is several hundred pages long so I'll have to go browse through it again.

myfavorites,

I took a look at the inventory edition but for now anyway decided to stay with merchandising edition. I have had problems everytime they update software. They don't do a thorough job in validating supporting features of their application software like "import". The last update I had to have them call me so I could explain my problems-email didn't get things fixed. They concurred and now have most of it fixed but I still work around some things. I am afraid to try Inventory edition until all the bugs are found and patched. Primary application software is usually issued with minor problems though, so the Inventory Edition is probably OK. Its nice to talk with others who use SKU. Few on this board use it and most use the Vendio tools strickly to launch and manage items.Good luck, Chuck

I think I finally found an easier way to file and and find cards (going forward- I'll keep my old cards the way they are). Everytime I scan a batch of cards, I add the batch date to the file name so it will be unique in Vendio. After I list the cards, I add the batch date in My Notes field in My EBay. This field is included in eBay's download so I can sort sold listings by batch date in Exel when it's shipping time. The field can also be seen in My eBay. I just keep the batch together, label it and file the whole batch with others by date. I wish I had started this a long time ago.

I just went back to my old listing program. I really wanted to use Vendio for the scheduling ability and to have everything online instead of on my computer, but I lost way too many features that I have grown used to (and Vendio costs more a month than the other program costs a year).

So, for now at least, my SKU# is right there to see whether I'm handling after sale management, ending a listing and changing to store, changing from store to auction etc. Plus I can do all the above with just a click of the mouse for 1 or all.

I wish Vendio would:
1. Make it easier to track listings
2. Make a simpler billing program where you would always know what you your base fees were and how they computed them.
