I sent my normal shipping letter with an item recently and the buyer wrote to ask if I had any other lamps from the period of the one she had purchased.
I sent her the number of one I had listed on ebay that had not sold and she wanted it.
It's a $300 lamp and she wants me to invoice her with paypal so she can pay.
My question is "how does paypal protection" work in this case? This lady is somewhat quirky if you know what I mean?
If she doesn't buy it off ebay can she do a charge back as not being "as described" or would I have more protection if I relist with a BIN for her?

When it comes to the financial aspects of the transaction, PayPal will treat it the same as if it took place on eBay. The only difference is that the buyer will not be able to leave any feedback for it.

It would be the same as if they purchased it from your Web site and not eBay's. Make sure you get signature confirmation via your shipper so that you can prove it was delivered - since PayPal's signature requirement starts at $250.

Or ask your buyer to pay by bank transfer, check or money order like everyone else does.

I don't see a problem. Paypal works the same, just send the invoice through Paypal, if you accept Paypal. It'll work the same. Or put it in your store if you want it to go through eBay.

And remember the Signature Confirmation.....

Looks like it would be best to not sell through FEEbay there would still be final valuation fees to pay them.

I can't decide if this is in violation of ebay's policies or not.
I'm getting to the point that if I loss money on a transaction - it's just a cost of doing business - forget it and move on.

Why would it be a violation of ebay rules. She contacted you off ebay, correct? If so, just cancel the auction and sell it to her. Just my 2 cents.

I'm with Mike. Just sell it to her. Keep Ebay out of it. Why pay Ebay extra when you don't need to?
