Can a seller have two ids and sell the exact same thing under both ids? One is a higher price than the other but it is the same in all other aspects of the auction. Same fotos, identical descriptions etc

As long as he has inventory to cover all listings, I don't see why this would be against eBay's rules. Perhaps he's test marketing to find the right price point.

If I were them, I'd make sure the combined total didn't exceed 10 of the same item -- isn't that the threshold eBay sets?

I think if they exceed that and get reported, they might get a stern warning and cancelled listings.

Wayne is right, ten is the limit.

"Sellers may not concurrently have more than 10 listings for identical items. If a seller chooses to list in more than one category, the seller must still adhere to the multiple listings limit of 10. Sellers may not use multiple User IDs to list more than 10 identical items."

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-multi.html

Other than that, and assuming the two IDs do not interact, yes, it's allowed.

This seller has way more than 10 of the same item listed in each ID that I saw. My son was "shopping" for something he wanted and noticed it.

If they have more than 10 listings, ebay will cancel the listings if someone reports them. If no one reports them, ebay will keep the listings active.

Can you have more than 10 listed if in the title each one has a seperate number, like say for instance, Widget No 1, Widget No 2, etc, thru Widget No 25 or more??

ed; to clarify my question.

Are you sure it's the same seller or is is possible that two sellers are involved and one has stolen/lifted the photos and descriptions from the other?

No. If the widgets are exactly the same, the title is inconsequential.

Though such a tactic may fool some of the more dimwitted T&S employees.

So with the title being inconsequential, then it's ok to use the same title with a different number for each as long as the items are different or just slightly different or even the next in a series but essentially the same item but different.....slightly. Gotcha, thanks!

If the items are "slightly" different (not identical), you can list more than 10, but then there is always the chance someone will complain and have ebay cancel the listings.

If the items are "slightly" different

That means they are not the same thing and all you have is 10+ different items. One auction each.

But for the original example stated, pixi and family have it right. and for paloma's explanation later, not OK.
