I have 3 dolls on eBay auction, 2 of them have hit the reserve price. I heard about the new shoe box size Priority Mail box that the PO has. I made a rare trip to the PO this AM to pick 3 boxes only to be told "we don't have them, you must order them online" I talked to the P.Masters secretary & explained the situation. Her reply was the same except she told me the local PO cannot order them!! I told her that I knew I would have to order a carton 25 & I only needed 3. She told me to bring the rest in to the PO. What kind of service is this?

I mailed one out right after receiving my order. The clerk at the PO asked me where I got that size. She said she was going to order some, and our post office now stocks them.
I don't use many of that size, am glad I was able to get 10 only.

For some dumb reason the USPS apparently can't order some of their own box's. Has been that way for years. I often order supplies for my local PO. I order them, they get delivered to my house and I just tell the delivery person to take them back to their PO because I ordered them for them. Dumb but that's your government working for you.

Max; I don't know how you managed to get only 10. I had to order 25. The PO will be glad to take them off my hands.

I ordered when they were first announced. At that time, they were 10 to an order. They went to 25 a few days later.

Sanmar, you can still get 10 (if you ever run out!. They are listed side by side on the last page of the web pages, one option for 25, next to it, another for 10.

I ordered the shoeboxes for myself and for our little p.o. They were grateful. I agree it's a stupid policy, and from some of the posts here it appears it doesn't apply to every post office, which is even dumber.

If you go to USPS go to order the shoe boxes and you will see 2 listed I think page 6 and both are same size one is for 25 the other is for 10 count. That is how you get different amount.

Our rural PO cannot order boxes either. I order for them. After I received my first box of the "Shoe Boxes", I showed them to the girls and then ordered 2 boxes for them.

My post office cannot officially order them so instead the person that does all of the ordering assigned himself a PO box and orders the boxes they cannot usually get thru that box. If you are friendly with your postal clerks, you might want to pass that suggestion on to them. Certainly makes everyones life a bit easier.

Many smaller post offices are contract locations. They are probably the ones who can not order the boxes.

I don't know why I am so tickled by this thread. Something in my memory bank is screaming - SAME SITUATION IN AN EPISODE FROM PETTICOAT JUNCTION -- or was it Green Acres?
