I ran across something I didn't know while reading about this topic. Perhaps others don't know, either.
eBay accepts any of the following as proof of payment:
* Copy of a check or money order
* Email communication between you and the seller
* Copy of payment confirmation from PayPal or other payment service
* Proof that the seller left you positive feedback for the transaction
For those sellers (like me) who use a third-party service to automatically return all positive feedback left for us, all a deadbeat has to do is leave us a positive first. I've seen this done in the past and didn't know why.

Well that really sheds some light on why bidders who don't pay leave FB. I guess they were smarter than we gave them credit for.

Yeah, I noticed this a while ago. I use Vendio for my automatic feedback reply's and I have since changed it to reply 24 hours after feedback is left for me. This at least gives me 1 day to catch it and turn off the automatic feedback for that transaction.

Of course, leaving a negative for the deadbeat when you file for FVF (or sooner) eliminates this whole problem.

I don't believe in the automatic feedback, I like to be personal and do it myself, even if it is one of my standard feedbacks I like to choose which one to leave for that person.
