Dear Mr Dawg:

As Bill Cobb recently announced, as of June 19 we are taking additional action to enforce eBay's Excessive Shipping and Handling Policy. Please read an important message from Bill Cobb about this initiative.

Here is more information to help you ensure your listings are in compliance:

How is the policy unevenly and unfairly enforced?

eBay is actively searching for and investigating member reports of listings with inflated shipping and handling costs--costs out of proportion to the item or services offered. Highlighted listings are reviewed and, if found to be in violation of eBay's Excessive Shipping Charges Policy, they will be cancelled. Continued violation may result in a selling restriction or an account suspension from eBay.

Unless yer a BIG-SHOT PS, what is considered reasonable shipping?

Fair shipping and handling charges cover the cost of packaging materials plus the cost of ground/air transport. A reasonable handling fee may also be added.

Can you recommend a team of LAWYERS so can I ensure my listings are in compliance?

Use eBay's Shipping Calculator. We've recently updated it for improved accuracy.

If you are charging for custom crating or additional services, clearly document those charges in your listing.

If you use a flat rate, charge for shipping to the furthest zone and add only a modest charge for shipping materials.
eBay recognizes there are costs associated with shipping. The Excessive Shipping Charges Policy is intended to stop the practice of egregious shipping fees only--the number one reason potential buyers leave eBay. If you are charging modest shipping and handling to cover your postage and material costs, this policy will not impact you.

We appreciate your support in helping us keep eBay a robust marketplace and a positive experience for our buyers. If you have questions, please contact our customer support team.

Regards,

eBay
