This is July 4th, when we should ALL be away from our computers. Of course, we are not. I thought I'd take a peak at my stuff on ebay before I signed off to spend some quality time with my kid. There it was, a bid! My first in 2 weeks! So others are at their computers on their days off, just like us!
I have thought this for awhile and now I am sure of it. It's not the old records, that I spent so much time on, that have the bid. It was a stupid garage sale item! In other words, quality CR%@ sells! I knew I could sell it in the garage sale but thought, what the heck, it's just going to sit there for a couple of weeks anyway.Put it up on ebay! Yep! that's the one that has the bid. Bottomline is, if you have something that you know will sell at a g.sale, put it up on butt bay at a slightly higher price than you know you could get a g sale. You are almost guaranteed a sale!
Happy 4th! Now do the hardest thing you have had to do all day. Shut down the 'puter, push yourself away from the desk. Stand up and walk out of the room. Spend some quality time with someone/thing other than the computer screen. I know it's hard but try (grin)

I don't know if I can leave my computer! (must try, must try) I too have been pleasantly surprised at all the hits my items have gotten, and three bids. I'm selling a bunch of old matchbook covers, mid-century, in groups of mostly 2 or 3, just to get the danged things out of my life. Low starting bids, but some of them hit nicely in the end.

Ray, I've been doing that too. The stuff that will get the bids is NOT the good stuff. The stuff you are about ready to throw in the garbage can is the stuff that is selling. (I am making myself laugh at this but it's true!) Save the good stuff for the holidays. The things that are almost too good to throw out but MAY be good enough for a g sale, will sell. Maybe I am just tired but it's so so funny CRRR @ P SELLS! I was going to throw away an old notebook. It was blank, nothing special. Darn if the thing didn't sell. Go figure.

We're retired and live a good distance from any of our kids. We don't make a big thing out of holidays anymore, are usually around home most of the day. I was amazed at how many hits my auctions got yesterday and how many of my buyers sent PayPal payments during the day, or contacted me about this or that.
As our population gets older, I wonder if we'll see less of big fusses on holidays like the 4th of July. Traffic in population centers can be a nightmare, and people who are retired might tend not to want to brave it. And other reasons, I suppose. . . .

Roadie, I think you're right! As our population gets older, I wonder what's going to happen. My kid and i decided not to go see fireworks anywhere else but home. We can see many fireworks just by going to the end of the street. That was enough for us.
