hmmm which ones are you talking about?

daily, weekly or yearly?

a move of a million is not not a big deal on a weekly basis, but look at the yearly.

Sure glad I don't own eBay stock right now.

Why?

It's the lowest it has been in years, now would be the time to buy and watch it rise again. I don't think it will stay down forever.

The 2 bumps were the 10 & 20-cent days.

The straight line is where the listing counts were off.

The counts have historically declined during the summer months.

Yeah, the bumper crop week I thought I was going to have turned out to be locust infested. No bids at all. Bummer

Looking at these trends I'd be shorting eBay stock as it should drop even lower when the European anti-competition inquiry is announced (these same watchdogs fined Microsloth a huge amount). When eBay banned Google Checkout and NoChex they hugely underestimated the outcry and potential legal minefield they stepped onto...

Agitprop...As soon as the CEO of Nochex mentioned "anticompetitive" in a press release, they suddenly bacame an approved payment method for Ebay. Not that it will keep the wolves away from the door, I predict the EU and the Justice department will slam Ebay and Paypal from 2 different directions. The eventual outcome will be that Ebay will have to divest itself from Paypal and operate under a strict consent decree for the next 15 years. Care to venture a guess as to who will be first in line to snap up Paypal?

Yep, looks normal to me. The normal summer dip as can be seen in the full history graph.

What makes you think that eBay wouldn't tell the EU to pack sand? I amazed at how important some people think that organization is, they don't even get along with themselves. Microsoft could tell them to pack sand if they didn't want to keep the market and a software manufacturer is an entirely different breed from an auction venue.

Ron...The EU is a grand experiment doomed to failure. I don't expect them to last 3 more years. But while they're up and running, those egotists make the rules and sure like to throw their weight around, so if you want to do business in Europe, you have to put up with them.

I agree sparkz, if you want to do business. Does eBay generate that much revenue from the EU? I don't know.
It will fail because it is not the open borders it as supposed to be, all the members would not take on the euro as their currency and many other problems.
Nice thought no follow through.

One thing that the graph does show, is eBay got away with the 20 cent listing day.

The sheep followed eBay right into their trap. You can kiss any free or 10 cent listing days goodbye.

BAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. The 20 cent listing day was more than twice as sucessful for me as the preceding 10 cent listing day. I don't regret participating for a second.
