Dear stonecold,

I'm writing today to let you know about changes we're making to eBay.com that are intended to rebalance the overall eBay marketplace by further distinguishing the roles of core listing formats (auction-style, auction-style with Buy It Now, and Fixed Price) and the Store Inventory listing format (used to display large amounts of product in eBay Stores).

Beginning August 22, insertion and final value fees for Store Inventory listings will be increased and will follow a tiered structure based on price--as they do for core listings. For complete details of these changes, please see my Announcement Board post and our Fee Changes Overview.

Translation
We are not raping our sellers enough and need to get our money grubbing hands on more cash

As one of the vast majority of eBay sellers who use only core listing formats, you are not likely to be impacted by these changes. Core listing fees will NOT be increased at this time.
Translation
But you can bet the farm we will be announcing a major fee hike, likely just before the Christmas listing season.

In fact, we're taking steps to boost their exposure on eBay and eBay Express.

I'm confident the actions we're taking are the right thing to do for the overall eBay Community.
Translation
My pockets are deeper than ever and feeling a little empty. I expect all you sellers to send me all your profits so I can live high on the hog.

Auction-style listings have made eBay what it is today. In short, they provide the signature shopping experience millions of buyers have come to expect and provide the fastest way for you sell on the Internet. Look for even more exciting incentives for core listing formats coming soon!

Sincerely,

Bill Cobb
President
eBay North America

"Corn" goes on about how the stores are dragging the system down with 83% of the listings and 9% of the sales.

"corn" may feel that there are a lot of things for sales in stores that need to go.

"corn" allows open search for a while back on the stores as a grand scheme to reduce inventory or listings. It goes well for the stores then we store folks reload the stores and the "corn" pulls the Cobb out. We all go back to the deep cellar with our stores.

E-bay express does not work to clear this up and furks up the entire mess.. er.. system.

The "corn" sticks the Cobb back in, but this time, it is in well you know where.

I am assuming the 6% figure for increase costs came from the CFO, as that same office is doing such a great job with the numbers ( the stock is at an all time)..wrong story.

So now we follow with the 20ct fee to see if we can get the store guys to unload their stuff.

I looked at the new numbers and, in my opinion, if you are selling an item that will sell with-end one month but not in 14 days the store fees will work. If the item will sell with-end the 14 days list and re-list then it is auctions that will be cheaper.

It also seems that low sale prices will need to be looked at in our store motifs.

A $10 item in the store will cost $1.75 to sell. This takes pay-pal, listing and fv fees and 12 Ct's as a store monthly fee pro rata added in.

Sales in the $1-$3 level will cost from $0.61 to $0.90. We will not be able to continue with that type of service as it would be cheaper to just give the stuff away.

So for my observation on this price increase & 20ct listings days is that the "corn" Cobb is saying clear out the junk, sell it off, or we are going to force you to do.

Maybe they are getting involved with Yahoo so he can take the e-bay auction to the same heights as Yahoo now is ... nearly defunct!
