I once bought a watch on ebay for 99 cents that included a shipping charge of $17.95 and $1 insurance. It was mailed to me wrapped in bubble packing in a normal sized letter envelope with a first class stamp.

I told this to an ebay employee at ebay live and she said ebay was going to start blocking bidders that do this. I would like to know how they are going to enforce this? Is it up to ppl to complain before ebay fixes it? because we all know how well that works.

I don't actually mind a small handling fee for shipping. I try to make $2-$4 on each auction myself to pay the guy that does shipping for me. However there are some categories on ebay where it is impossible to be competitive unless you charge outlandish shipping fees. I would like to sell computer parts and poker chips, but these categories are dominated by 1 cent and 99 cent buy it nows + $25-$50 shipping fees. So far I have avoided abusing customers to this extreme. Any ideas?

Tell us your best ebay shipping inflation story.

If you click the "Report this Item" button at the bottom of the listing, there is a good chance that ebay will problably cancel such listings.

Isn't funny how eBay cancels ONLY what benefits them to do so? Yes, these people who list these crazy S/H fees are obviously doing this to get around paying eBay the FVF. Thus it would benefit ebay to have these sellers add the price back into the actual item listing so they can get a piece of the pie when it sells.

I primarily deal in sports products. I am a licensed dealer and have been for 15+ years. We ONLY sell officially licensed products. I have reported the same sellers over and over again to eBay who are selling fake/counterfeit goods. I've reported these same sellers to the manufactuer as well. Some of these are Power Sellers who bring ebay a nice little profit each month. They are breaking so many of eBay's posted rules, yet eBay continues to allow them to list these fakes and honest sellers like myself are the ones losing business.

I'm just really fed-up with eBay enforcing only the rules that help them out financially. But then again, that's what eBay is all about!!!

First of all, toben, it's nice to see you back at the EO board. It has been I while since I have seen you.

Second, and I can hardly believe that I am going to write this as it goes against all of my principles. How about everyone in protest, lists all of their items at one penny with incredibly high shipping. Yes I know it is against ebay's rules and everything I believe in, but not listing only hurts us sellers and ebay could care less if we leave. It would hurt them more if we used their system to sell our items and they don't get paid for a change, where we actually do.

And don't tell me it could get us suspended. That is one of the risks of the plan.

Sorry sir, that's what your package weighed when I shipped it. My scale must have had a furball stuck in it or something. Cute pic by the way.

A while ago the better half found something she wanted on the Bay. the item was a buck s&h 8 bucks. It came 1st class for 60 cents. I bought and paid for it cause wife wanted it. turned seller into eBay all 84 of her pending auctions were canceled.
Seller must have suspected someone ratted him / her out! Got email "Dear Customer I have been informed by eBay that I recently made a listing error it should have read item price $8 S&H $1.00" Gee and they made this mistake 84 times!!

That cat looks like he she got tangled up in something sticky or did you give it a bath to add weight to its fur. LOL
Funny

I did a relist once and for the 3rd time listed it with raised auction price and put an outrageous buy it now for the item and I'll b darned if it didn't get a bid almost immediately and sold. Go figure. I didn't want to try the high shipping so thought I would try an outrageous buy now. I think that worked but am not real sure it was that or just had the right person come along and bid the start price but got rid of it.
