I just got an irate (and justified) called from someone who sold me a postcard a couple of weeks ago. I mistakenly left her a negative, when I meant it for someone else, a NARUd buyer! She hasn't left feedback for me yet but the sale is completed.
Do you know of any recourse for us? I've ruined her 4000 100% feedbacks and I don't blame her one bit for being angry.
Somewhere I seem to have read that if both parties leave negs, eBay will remove them if petitioned to do so. Could that be true????

I've been researching this on eBay. It *looks* as though the other party has to leave feedback also, before we can petition to remove feedback. Anyone here have experience with this?

I would do two things first.
First, I would go into her feedback and leave a follow up feedback that you made a mistake and should be positive.
Second, let your seller know. Then instruct them to leave you a good feedback, but click the negative button. This will still give you a good feedback, but also will make it eligible for the little red mark to be removed. Keep in mind, the words of the feedback will remain no matter what you do.

I've done the mutual removal. The comments stay but the black mark goes away. I'm not sure but you may also be able to go in and leave a follow-up comment on her feedback also.

The other party can leave pos., neg, or neutral feedback and you can both request a mutual feedback removal from Ebay. They will remove the red mark and the neg from the total score, but the comments left by each of you will remain to be read by anyone scrolling through either of your feedback profiles. It's very important that you both leave comments indicating it was a mistake. The only way to get the comment and score reduction completely erased is to go through Square Trade and pay their fee.

Thanks, guys. It's done, already! This may be the fastest I've ever been able to solve a horrible problem with eBay stuff.
We conferred, and she left a positive feedback for me. I then initiated "mutual feedback withdrawal," she was contacted by eBay to make it mutual, she okayed it, and it's done. Now I've gone in and written a followup to the neg I'd left her.
When we were conferring, I told her to leave me a neg but she said she simply couldn't do it (a very very kind person, I say), and she left the positive instead.
Problem solved. We're both jangled and hope to sleep tonight! She was in tears and I was feeling terrible about the whole thing.

Stonecold: By the way, the other party didn't have to click the "negative" button. She left a positive and clicked the "positive" button, and this all was resolved anyway. Live and learn, huh.

Yes, I agree. There are many updates to ebay and it is simply too difficult to keep up with them all. That is why we hang around here.

I left feedback for the wrong buyer recently and asked for it to be removed. He had not left me FB, but Ebay removed it.
