my 15 year old Oki laser is about to give up the ghost and besides it really likes to get stuck when I feed it the 2 per page labels for ups or usps. Is there a current model laser printer that handles these labels really well, eg they dont get stuck and maybe even can be batch fed through a second tray? Any Hp's good for this task? I probably want a monochrome printer and don't need anything too fancy. TIA

I use a Brother HL-5140 I bought about (hmm, how long ago was that) 1 1/2 years ago. It has worked flawlessly for me with 2 part labels. It has one paper try and the second can be purchased seperatly. I bought the second tray on ebay for dirt cheap. Keep regular paper in one and shipping labels in the other. It has a page count of over 13,000 pages printed so far and I have not had one problem with it yet. If I needed another one I would buy the exact same one. I bought it at Staples.

I have a HP Deskjet 895cse (to be exact) and it works great for double page labels. I just put a few on top of the reg paper and let it go. Never had a problem yet.

post, I don't think it has anything to do with what kind of laser printer prints good labels. Just check out a printer that is reliable, doesn't break down alot and is cost effective to run. You don't want a $20 printer that uses alot of $100 ink or toner cartridges. There are sites that compare the printers in this kind of detail.

I have a stableful (okay, 4) Apple LaserWriter 16/600 printers that will print on any label stock. They are not new. They are in fact quite old.
I made the mistake about five years ago of thinking I needed a new laser printer. I spent $1199 on an HP 2100N. Big waste of money. It has printed fewer than 5,000 pages but is so noisy we have it locked away in a spare bedroom.

I too use an 895Cse. In fact I have 2 of them. Mine are over 6 years old, used everyday for everything I print (except photos) and have never let me down. The ink seems to last forever.
They were expensive when new, but have more than paid for themselves.
