I have two people right now that want me to build websites for them with shopping carts. I have one I have used before but figured i would put some feelers out to see if there are any new ones I should take a look at. One of the sites will require only very simple options (title, SKU, cost) the other will have more options involved (title, color, size, SKU, cost). What is your fav, what do you love about it, what drives you nuts?
Also, since I will be gone within the next year I need these to be at least somewhat idiot proof so that once the site is done, the owner will be able to do updates themselves.
Thanks in advance!

Most are PHP based so you need to ask your consultant the right questions. Get a checklist ready of what your web host's server offers (Apache, CGI, PHP...) and how your current database is structured so your consultants can make the best recommendations. Prices for shopping cart start at free to $1k+ depending on how many bells and whistles you want. Most of the cost is in the Customization; less is cheaper.
It is a very secure, very flexible shopping cart that really is just a shopping cart- not a whole commerce system. Very nice if you have a database for your products already.
