I can't remember what you call this lace work around the postcard - would "reticulated" be right? I can't believe it survived nearly 100 years without one tear! TIA

Have no idea on the proper description idea you're looking for, but can assure you if you scan or shoot this image with a black background, it will really stand out much better to help showcase the reticulation...

Could it also be called pierced?

Thanks Wayne - I'll look for a darker background. Now that it is enlarged I do see problems in the upper right corner, DARN!
