I was away at cubscout camp the past few days, got back and checked my messages...ebay called with a warning, because in my feedback I listed my web address. Well, I've updated that now, I find it interesting that they are checking feedback left for buyers and following through with a warning, but at least it was only a warning.

Knock on wood, but I have always listed my web address in feedbacks I leave. They have never said anything.

Feedback abuse and removal:

Feedback that meets any of the circumstances below is feedback abuse and may be subject to removal.
Feedback that doesn't meet any of the reasons outlined below will not be removed:

eBay is provided with a valid court order finding that the disputed feedback is slanderous, libelous, defamatory or otherwise illegal.

The feedback comment contains profane, vulgar, obscene, or racist language or adult material. Inflammatory language, such as "fraud, liar, cheater, scam artist, con man" etc., while strongly discouraged, will not be removed.

The feedback comment contains personal identifying information about another member, including real name, address, phone number, or e-mail address.

The feedback makes reference to an eBay, PayPal or law enforcement organization investigation.

The feedback comment contains links or scripts.

Negative feedback intended for another member will be considered for removal only in situations where the member responsible for the mistaken posting informs eBay of the error and has already placed the same feedback for the correct member.

Feedback left by a person ineligible to participate in eBay transactions, according to Section 1 of the eBay User Agreement, at the time of the transaction or the time the feedback was left.

Feedback left by a member who provided eBay with false contact information and could not be contacted. In general, the transaction period is considered to be 90 days from the end of the listing or 30 days from the date the feedback was left, whichever was longer.

Feedback left by a member who bid on or purchased an item solely to have the opportunity to leave negative feedback for the seller, with no intention of completing the transaction.

Feedback left by users who are indefinitely suspended for certain policy violations within 90 days of registration. eBay takes the position that members who are indefinitely suspended soon after registration shouldn't be able to permanently impact another member's account.

eBay will automatically remove feedback from members indefinitely suspended within 90 days of registration. Not all suspension types qualify for automatic feedback removal. For example, accounts that are suspended for non-payment of eBay bills and instances when eBay provides the member with the opportunity to fix the issue (and be reinstated), do not qualify for automatic removal

With so many people closing their stores this month and taking their customers to their St. Elsewhere sites, eBay has to be worried. Many store owners have repeat customers who are willing to follow them. Mine email me to ask me where I'm moving my store to. So, IMO, rules they may have been lax on in the past they are going to get aggressive on now.

I agree that it was at least nice of them to call you before taking other measures.

I guess technically you can say it was a link, but there was not code, they couldn't click on the feedback. I am ok with it, and thankful that they actually called me and asked me to stop instead of just suspending me. I saw it by reading feedback, and thought it was a great marketing idea, so I gave it a try. Oh well, back to the boring old great transaction, excellent ebayer comments.

ebayvet, did you leave a URL or just the domain name?

There are tons of sellers who leave just a domain name.

I left my domain name. They said because it had .com in it, that is what the problem is. I don't know if it is the beginning of a new crackdown, I do have and leave a lot of feedback, so it could be that I caught their attention because of the quantity?

It seems "nitpicky" to me, as long as it's not clickable.

But, unfortunately, we don't make the rules.

Way back in the early days of eBay - before everyone was drowning in a sea of rules and regulations - I mentioned law enforcement in my feedback for a non-paying buyer I'd sent the item to*, and to this day that comment still stands on the buyer's feedback. They eventually paid up when reminded by the Postal Inspectors they were facing a charge of mail fraud.

* it was a pre-Christmas sale back in 1999 and they couldn't get a money order to me with time for me to ship the item to the USA. I agreed to ship at the same time as they sent the money order. This was before PayPal was widely accepted not that I would have used such a new fangled payment method.

More likely one of your customers resented you using their feedback profile as a billboard and reported you.

Quite a few buyers don't like feedback comments that are non-transactional, at least according to statements I have seen.

Either that or a competitor...Anyway, It's been changed, not sure how much business it brought, I guess I could always use my store address in the feedback, that probably would be ok

Perhaps. eBay Store We-Love-Meg-Whitman puts their Store name in feedback.
