All I can say is if it has anything to do with AOHELL I won't have anything to do with it.

tom - I've asked. we'll see what they say.

I just thought this might impact a lot of Ebay sellers since I've read many complaints over here about AOL email addresses from winning bidders on Ebay and the email not going through. It looks to me like more AOL email addresses will be available and be used.

In our local paper it said that if you formally had an AOL email address you can still use it by logging in with your old password.

I think a lot of people started out with AOL but I know I don't want my old AOL email address back!

I've never used them, but from what I read here it's a love it or hate it relationship.

However, I have had problems getting invoices to buyers with aol addresses.

GG:

I'll be very surprised if this "service" is useful for auction sellers, due to:

..."share them with others by granting file/folder permission..."

Sounds like just another photo print service ala KODAK, etc...

"Permission-based file and folder sharing"

This is what you put above and it says it all. Sort of. A lot of these sites do NOT let you use your space for online auctions in the fact that you usually have to share a folder or something out to specific email addresses but sometimes you can get around that but if you read their TOS you will probably find that they don't let you share through ebay or any other auction sites . I have an aim user name and have for several years and I have a website and it said not for use of 3rd party viewing or something like that. Ever now and then I put up a web page to associate with an auction and know that it won't be pegged a lot so I get away with it for 7 days then delete the url with images etc. The once in a blue moon that I do do this I just hope that the site does not get wise before the auction is over. They would if it was viewed a lot and I mean a way lot but my auctions that I do this with usually don't get more than couple hundred looksees in a week if that and I don't do it but about once or twice in every 2 year period. I did one last month and it was first one in about 3 years at that website.

I think it is for personal storage only not for use of viewing from other sites.

I do know of another seller who uses their storage space and has used it for the last couple of years. She only had problems once and was able to rectify it quickly. I subscribe to AOL and have since '99 without any problems, but have been a bit leary of using their space.

I've had AOL exclusively for 10 years and love it. My only complaint is price, but now at 25.99 for high speed it is very competitive. I have web sites and long term listings on ebay with AOL storage ("my space" as they call it) and never lost the scan images on the net. Its easy to bash AOL but I continue to be satisfied. No issue with emails etc as rumors suggest. Chuck

Chuck- If you use aol, aol wouldn't send your messages to spam, would they?

In the past they have sent mine there, so it's not a rumor. I have had it happen. Everytime, except one, has been an aol address.

Twig,
are you asking if AOL sends its own members emails to spam or they filter incoming emails ??
AOL allows its members to set up spam filter-light,medium or well done, each morning I check my spam folder and find junk mails,so the filter works.

I love AOL , been with them for at least a decade . No problems at all!

If something lands in the spam folder I just "fetch" it out

Of course I do not use the browser I use Foxfire or Opera.
My internet provider is BellSouth , AOL Broadband is an add-on

Methinks, those Earthlink blocks that require you do jump a loop to contact a customer is more aggravating .
I always personally thank and send shipping information -to all my customers-PERSONALLY `not a thingy template from eBay, Vendio , FROM ME

Of course if I get that Earthlink message , I just move on . I do not go through screening or a pat-down to communicate with anyone! (blonde syndrome)

I also have trouble getting through on AOL. I had it about 7 0r 8 yrs ago, but went to DSL on Verizon & would never change. If I read the item in Time Magazine correctly, there is no customer service with the free email
