I just got an message from an eBay buyer, "Why did you block me?"
I check my BBL, and yep he's there. I have no idea WHY I put him on the list anymore, but I'm sure I had reason.
I don't have a very large BBL. Past troublemakes, troublemakers others have reported (here and elsewhere), and people who ask suspicious questions are on my list. But I can't specifically tell him WHY he's on the list.
Would you answer, and what would you say?

Don't answer - if you don't want to do business with him, why should you communicate with him? Just because someone sends you an ASAQ doesn't mean you have to answer (Especially since you are likely to piss him off no matter how you answer)

Dr. Arcane, if you are the revelator of mystical secrets, you may need to consult your crystal ball for the answer for this deep dark secret.

The crystal ball gave "no answer".
Hmmm... Maybe it's all in the interpretation!

If you use Vendio - you can do a search for his ID, if he purchased from you before.
I only have about 15 ID's on my blocked list but I think I can tell you why on everyone. I guess I have a very good memory or really know how to hold a grudge LOL

Could you have blocked them for non-payment?
I remember a long time ago, ebay used to have a link to add a bidder to the blocked list when they were reported for non-payment.
Check your feedback for a past transaction.

Tell him not to take it personally, but you have a policy of blocking all jerks and a**holes.

Tell him/her that at this point you no longer remember why.
But at the time you did it there was a good reason, and that's all you need to remember!

I was looking at my BBL the other day, I just added another one to it, and I cannot remember why I put most of them on it but I figure they are there because at the time it was for a very good reason so there they stay, no matter how much they b'tch and complain. No I wouldn't answer him because for all you know it could have been because he ignored your emails of his non-payment.

You don't owe them an answer. If they persist 2-3 more emails, I'd write back that the info is confidential and reinstatment at this time is not possible!

Check his I.D. history and see if any of his previous I.D.'s look familiar. It could be one of those you blocked. If so, the I.D. in your BBL would have changed as soon as he got the new one.

Maybe you never had any contact with him, but someone here has.
I often see posts about PIA buyers & someone will say "Post his ID so we can block him"
Could be how you picked him up.

"Dear Blockhead,
The official Vendio mystical revelator supplied your name as a person who is a royal PITA. Consequently, most of us have blocked you from bidding on our auctions. However, in the interest of fairness, for a non-refundable administrative fee of $35.00 (cash only), I will remove your name from my blocked bidders list. Please let me know if this is satisfactory."

Ask him which item he was interested in. Then send him the purchase info stating if he wants to buy, he will have to do it outside of EBAY.

Just an update so this thread can finally end. I just ignored the guy and the item eventually ended. He never asked a second time.
Thanks for the tips!
