I think the dog looks like a German shorthair. I think the bird is a lame representation of a Robin.

Dog looks like a mixed breed to me. The head appears wrong for a German shorthair. I think the muzzle is too narrow to be a German shorthair.

I don't think the bird is a Robin. I'm looking out the window now at a flock of them and they look nothing like that. Different head shape, no blue head, no red breast and no green/red back. Robins are orange breasted, black to grayish mottled back/wings and head with white ring's around their eyes. Can't say I have ever seen a bird like this in person. Almost looks to be a tropical type bird due to the large color varriations it has.

I would agree the dog is Suicidal.

It's a male Painted Bunting. Member of the Finch family.

Roger Tory Peterson's _Field Guide to Western Birds_ can often be found at garage sales for a quarter. Smart buy.

LOL, Tom. I showed my husband the two pictures and he said "suicidal" too.

He's getting out the bird book; he thinks it might be a grosbeak but. . . hold on. . . here he comes now. Nope, not grosbeak.

FLUFFY WINS! He found it in the Sibley Guide to Birds. Good on ya, Fluff.

Thanks, all! I suspected a finch but had trouble finding the right one on Google! I have the field guide - at the beach!

It might be a GSP, but the muzzle is awfully snipey, the backskull it too broad and the ears are very houndy. It also appears to have some long feathering on its legs--very un-pointer like.

The dog is most likely a mix, but you could list it as a GSP with a question mark and let the GSP fanciers decide for themselves whether it is or isn't.

I think the dog is a fox hound.

my vote is for an English Fox Hound

It could be a GSP. Could be just a Pointer

My grandfather raised those dogs in your picture and we just called them Bird dogs. LOL I like the idea of it being a suicidal dog. Better yet call it a Jumper.
