Both the local USPS offices I go to regularly have removed any clocks visible to the customers in the last month. One counter clerk told me it was inconvenient, but 'new policy'.
Hmm. Maybe they're fed up with customer knowing how long they've been in line, and are adopting the same approach as casinos.
What next.. piped oxygen for the counter staff??

Funny you should mention this. Two postal big-wigs (characterized as b----ches by all who've come into contact with them) did a sweep of our little post office operation a couple of months ago and changed much. Some for the better--better lighting, etc., but the first thing we all noticed was NO MORE CLOCKS. Everyone complains about that and we've been told it's regulation now. WHY?!

I want the coffee and tea cart in the lobby. As well as lightweight chairs for the elderly to use while in line.
If USPS was a real business, like it pretends to be, customer-friendly features would be no-brainers.

Yep, Fluffy, I'm with you on that. Some of us in line the other day were saying we'd even like wine and cheese in the late afternoon.
I agree, if the usps were a real business, they'd pay a bit of attention to the "waiting room" amenities. Tiny things, like a clock and perhaps some chairs.

I would say have competent employees at the counter. I go to many PO's, and know which ones to go to and which ones to avoid. The good ones are always have competent people working the counter. The good ones, I can get in line with 25 people in front of me and never be there more than 10 minutes. The bad ones if there are only three people in line, it can take 15 minutes or longer. It's just a matter of picking the right PO to go to.

They just painted the interior of my local post office a few day's ago. I went in today and took note if there was a clock or not. It's still there. Guess the clock monster hasn't gotten there yet.

They moved the clock in the post office I frequent from the front wall to the side wall. From habit I still look at the wrong wall for the clock.

I guess our Post Office in Southeastern PA is proud of their line speed.
They have 2 clocks. One is a digital countdown one they used for some promotion and the other is an old institutional-looking one with hands.
When I asked them about any sort of "new policy" that might be circulating - they laughed. But, then again, they're a funny sort...

I made a second mail run today and inquired about any new policy and got the same laugh. I think they were asked to remove it and just told them to shove off. Must be a Southern PA thing Wayne because that's where I am to.

Our Post office removed a table they had set up that had supplies and such it was not regulation so out it went along with place to put your packages out of your arms. Pi$$ lots of people off along with the employees cause now they have to keep a tiny supplies space loaded ( won't hold squat) or go to back everytime someone wants what use to be on the large table.

Gone from my local PO too. I don't miss the clock part as much as I do the month, day and year part. Maybe I'll buy them a calendar.
