Do you think it is better to have one seller id with high feedback but selling a huge variety of items...or ...to have several id's each which sells a specific type of product?

I have one ID. I sell collectibles and books.

A couple of years ago I had to get a second ID to sell old stuff a relative thought was family stuff. It was awfully hard to start over with feedback on that second ID. After selling most of the old stuff I had lying around, I dropped the second ID and kept my first one. Whoosh, there went about 200 +feedbacks, 100% rating. Shucks.

Create as many as you need to fit your particular business plan. I have 2, and use the second strictly for consignment sales. If I feel it will help me, I will create a 3rd account in the future.

I'm up to 6 at last count. 1 is for buying only and 3 for use in selling different products. The other 2 get used from time to time.

I just have one - buying (husband does most of the buying) and selling. I tried to set up a buying id for DH but he couldn't remember the password (SIGH - what are you going to do with an engineer who can't figure out more on the remote than the channel changer and can't even figure out the alarm clock?).

Roadie - if you never intend to use your spare id again I think you can merge the feedback with your main ID.

Four...

Two for selling, two for buying.

When I was buying a certain collectible regularly, I found I had "followers" who would out-bid me. Now I use a sniping system, but prefer to change-up the user IDs when running across an item that is ending in the last couple of minutes = no more followers, or lost bids!

I have 2 - my main one is used for 99% of all sales. The second I sell on every now and then but most use as my buying ID (hubby's buying mostly).
roadsmith - why drop your second ID? It doesn't cost you anything and you never know when you may need it?

I have 3. Two for selling and one for buying. I'm thinking of opening up a second for buying because it has almost 1000 FB. I think I buy too much!

Ladyjewels--I dropped my second account because I also had the two accounts with Vendio, and it was costing me more money. Also, I thought it was a pain in the neck trying to switch back and forth between the accounts, and sometimes I couldn't remember which account I'd listed something under. Too much hassle for me. I don't know how people with several accounts do it!

I can understand that Roadsmith.
I don't use my second account very often and I do have 2 accounts with Vendio as well. What I did was I dropped all plans with Vendio on my second ID, delete photos etc so I wasn't being charged anything .
Now I store all my photos on my main ID with Vendio. If I want to list on my second ID, I copy and paste the photos directly to my second ebay ID. That way I don't have to pay ebay's crazy photo prices and I have the great photo from Vendio. It works pretty well for me and only takes a little extra time. I'm just hanging on to the second Vendio ID in case I want to really do a lot of listing on that ebay ID.
It sure would be much easier if Vendio would let us have more ebay ID's on one Vendio ID. I'd pay extra for that capability without a doubt.

I have one and wife has her own but usually uses mine to buy cause she doesn't know if buying with her account will let her pay with the Paypal account but I think ya can we have her email associated with it and ebay ID too. She says she uses mine so she doesn't look like a dummy if she screws up on trying to pay with the Paypal account. Go figure.

Irked...Don't feel alone. Whenever my wife and I go shopping, she always prefers to pay out of my wallet instead of her purse.

Actually you can salvage those 'lost' feedbacks and add them onto your main eBay ID by consolidating both accounts. (Check some older threads for details as to how to do it.)

hhhh1 - If you go to your image files and check the ones you want to use then you can attach them to an auction (you want the HTML's or non-ebay). When you get to the HTML box, just copy it and paste into the description of the auction form. If you want a gallery photo, you will need to pick out the URL only for that photo (getting rid of the center tags etc). That takes a bit more practice but if I can do it - so can you.
Hope I've used the right terms and you can understand what I'm trying to say. lol

I tried to keep both a selling and buying ID but did not have the discipline to sign out / sign in when I found a great buy when researching on my seller ID. A bad habit - I risk bidding against good customers and leave a trail for obsessive folks that dig deep to find what I paid for cards. Haven't been caught yet- knock on wood!

roadsmith - You can merge that account into one. I had 3, but when I stopped selling on half, decided that I would merge that account into my second account. Now I have 2 accounts, one for my main selling, and one where I do wholesale lots.

Can I merge them even though I've closed one of them with eBay and Vendio? Can anyone point me in the direction of where I would do that? Thanks. I'd love to retrieve those +feedbacks!

Hi
I have 3 selling names, I use my main name for collectibles, tools, toys, and anything that is old, because my husband does the buying so I never know what I will be selling. Like this week its going to be Plumbing parts, a collection of model toy cars, Old Car test equiptment, What a mixed up mix of stuff. He never sticks to one type of item. This name I use for all my buying.

My second name I use only for Sterling & Gold Jewelry which I Like keeping separate. These two names I use all the time.

My 3rd name I started when I was selling ladies clothing and then turned it over to my daughter when she was selling so it gave her a nice start with feedback.

One main original account for selling. One for selling awful discards and posting on discussion boards, and when I forget who I am, sometimes buying. One main buying ID. Yes, I think it's very helpful not to co-mingle certain activities or lines of merch.

Simply put. Nope. Yes ebay has a policy, but like all of their policies, it is not inforced.
