My cell phone contract is set to expire shortly and I want to upgrade my phone. Has any one renewed their contract though a dealer from ebay? I am debating whether or not to renew my plan for another two years or just buy a new phone.
Has any one had any experiences with cell phone purchases from ebay?

I have no experience with cell phone purchases but...
My few electronic purchases from eBay were less than satisfactory:
1. Too many dubious sellers to weed through.
2. Too much fine print, with nothing favorable to the buyer.
3. No aftersales customer service.

I have purchased 3 Motorola L6 SLVR's in the last month on eBay and have been completely happy with the transactions! They were about $140 each which is far better than comitting for another 2 years.

re: sim card. yes you do.
I've bought phones from Ebay. You will have to call your cell company and give them your new phone ID number and make sure it's programmed for your area.

As long as the phone you are purchasing is unlocked or it is for your specific carrier, then all you need to do is put your SIM card into it. Most phones on eBay will not have a SIM card with it. Here is a link to the seller I bought 2 of my phones from: http://stores.ebay.com/NEW-CONNECTION-WIRELESS

Thanks glassgrl and marcn. I heard that is all that needed to be done was to switch the sim cards, but I am glad other people have had the same experiences.
