I had to chuckle when I saw this one ! I just acquired a silver bracelet, again. It says Silver Mexico and that's it. So I start looking a little further with my loupe. Check the links. I'm thinking the work looks pretty good. Nicely made until . . . WHAT THE! . . . I had to take a double look! Inside I see a faint stamp of E Plurabus U. They smashed our silver coins to make this bracelet? Can't be, I thought. sure enough. The make used coins and something else for the back of the links. Didn't even bother to melt it down.
Thought you'd get a kick out of this. I sure did. I've never seen this before.
Ok, I misspelled the title of this post, Sue me!

Hi Paloma,
Jewelry made from coins is not that unusual. It is one of the many reasons the US mint stopped minting half dollars and quarters in real silver.
When my Mom was young (1940's,50) one of her past times was tapping a quarter into a ring. I have never tried it, but she said they would use a spoon and slowly tap the center until the metal worked its way to the edges and then tap the outside to form a band. She had a ring my father had made her by doing this.
Many quarters were also melted down in the fireplace and formed into drops for necklaces.
