I've seen many people here that seem to prefer Firefox to IE - is there that big of a difference? If so, what is the difference?
I just got a new computer (well new to me) and it has both but defaults to Firefox. How would I change it to default to IE?
Next - really dumb question - I installed my anti-virus/firewall while in IE so does that also keep me safe on Firefox?
I'm sure this is just the first of many dumb questions to follow.

I use Firefox. It has numerous features missing on IE, like tabbed browsing. You can also install some nice extensions, like a key scrambler that encodes the passwords typed and saved on your computer. In many ways it is like IE, though, so there's not much of a learning curve.

FoxFire is not loaded with unnecessry junk, so the browsing is faster.
When the new XP was installed on my current computer, I had my tech remove as much "junk" as possible to trim up the IE system. (I liked my Windows98, but went with the upgrade due to support being discontinued for '98.) Even with the 'trimming' of IE, FoxFire still gets around the 'Net faster.
Try it! The download is free and I've had no problems with FF. If you don't like it, delete it.

There was a tiny learning curve - adjusting to FF after using IE for so long. Now that I've made it I haven't looked back
I still have IE because my Bank website won't work with FF. Haven't bothered to figure out why. There's been a couple of pages like that but I can't remember all of them.
I love how my PP webpage bar is YELLOW indicating I'm really in PP
Is it possible your pop-up blocker is causing the problems for your bank access? I have the same problem on one of my credit card pay-on-line accounts. Still have to stick a stamp on that payment! UGH!!!
And...What is your PP webpage bar? Is that PayPal? A store?

gg - I had the same problem with my bank (Wells Fargo) and Firefox. I got a new computer and installed a new version of FF and problem is gone. Maybe if you uninstalled FF and then reinstalled newest version it would work?
I love FF! Not only can you do tabbed browsing but you can set up tabs to open as "Home Page" all at once when you start up FF - it's wonderful! Another benefit is that I never hear music on ebay listings (must work like a pop-up).

Love Firefox too -- have it on both computers and won't look back. I did have earlier probs with FF and my bank but since Wachovia changed their bill pay, they may have upgraded to permit FF and all is smooth. I couldn't live without tabbed browsing! I installed NoScript (one of their extentions), and haven't had a piece of spyware since. And you know what, I don't think I get music either!
I also use Thunderbird for my email, and much much prefer that to OE.

IE 6 was a VAST improvemnet (speed, etc.) over IE5 and before... that said, Firefox is a VAST improvement over IE6 and adds some cool things like tabbed browsing, etc.
However, IE7 adds tabbed browsing, much faster speed, and the ability to add components from third party developers. Since I'm on Vista RC2, I've not even bothered reinstalling Firefix (yet) as I've not seen a need.
