Goodmorning everyone...I bought a head vase at the yard sales this past weekend and she was a bit dirty. When I washed her I could see this clouding in the glaze. Does this glaze have a formal name ? or do I just put the glazing is cloudy ?

I'm guessing the glaze was done that way on purpose; could be wrong. Could you show us a full shot of this headvase?

Was this a craft project or a commercial product? It looks like somebody messed up.

I wouldn't worry about any possible crazing; it's a beautiful piece.

Head vase collectors are out there in droves. Just mention the crazing, be sure to show a picture of it, and go from there. You've got a very pretty item!

I have seen this design before. I believe it was in one of my MIL's head vase books.

Maybe someone here has a book.......

It really isn't crazed, it's more of a firing problem.
Ceramic Arts Studio was a large operation in Madison, WI back in the 50's.
Their line is quite collectable.
There is also a boy head vase to match - Sven.
