How would you handle this bidder

A buyer won 3 auctions and when I went to pack them I noticed a problem with one item that was part of one of the auctions so I took a picture of the problem item and emailed him the picture of the problem and asking if he still wanted the rest of the items in the 1 auction for a reduced price or did he want me to take this auction off his winning list. He never answered my email.......

Then he emails me saying he needs a week to fix his credit card problem because his card was stolen, and he was going to the bank this week so by the weekend he should be ready to pay. He still never mentioned the email I sent him about the problem auction.

Then he bids on 3 other auctions and wins, ....... I wrote him telling him before I could combine auctions to give him a shipping price I would need to know what he wants to do about the problem auction.............NO reply from him. ....... Then he pays for each auction separately with Paypal and he deducts the shipping charges from 5 auctions and only pays the shipping for one auction.
This is what he wrote me: "Since I didn't hear from you about combining shipping I made the adjustments at the ebay site so I can get you paid faster. Please combine the orders together. I am in no rush so ship at the most economical way for yourself."..........

As of today I still didn't hear back from him........If I am combining all the auctions then I think I should receive one combined payment from paypal and refund all his payments, ............I am the one who decides how much combined shipping will be, not him.....

I would refund all of his payments. In my TOS, I state that in order to combine shipping, a combined payment is required, then I would send him an invoice for all of the items except the one that is damaged. The only problem here, is that in my experience many times after you refund the monies, you never get paid, but you need to set the shipping costs and the terms, not him.

His problems indicate that there may be more to this than just the combining of shipping.

Dropkick him into next week.

Seriously, though, if you have your Checkout screen set up so that the buyer can make adjustments to the total you are (in my opinion) just asking for this kind of thing.

My eBay -> Preferences -> Selling Preferences -> "Allow buyers to edit payment totals"

When I buy multiples from sellers who combine for shipping, I ask them to send me an invoice.

Thanks Fluffy, that was a big mistake on my part to leave it open for them to make changes...........I never had a customer who decided on there own how much my combined shipping will be, but always a first time for everything.

Well I went and fixed that setting,

I would send him an email THROUGH EBAY rather than his email address. Your emails might be sitting in a spam folder somewhere, unseen by him.

on each refunded payment state reason for refund and problem with that one auction if he reads his paypal he will get the message plus send email through ebay. I also say on refunded payments that i don't accept multiple pays due to increased fees by taking multiples. So far everyone has repaid using one payment---so far. Good luck

Well I sent him an email through ebay but still didn't hear back from him. I guess tomorrow if no reply from him then I should refund his payments and figure his combined shipping without including the auction with the damage item, this I will just deduct from his 6 winning auctions, .....then send him one invoice with shipping cost.

Maybe then he will contact me.......lol

I would pull their contact info, and give them call. That way, you can also discuss the item that has a 'problem'.
