ok so last night I was doing laundry in the downstairs bathroom - where the washer, dryer and downstairs toilet is - all in one room.
I looked over and saw a small snake crawling out from underneath the washing machine! ACK!
So I got the BBQ tongs and picked it up and threw it in the toilet and flushed it.
NOW every time I sit down on the toilet all I can think of is a snake crawling up my butt!
I'll never do that again! Or at least I'll kill it first!
I kind of just keep laughing at myself and looking at the toilet a lot!

perfect answer tom
since we've lived in this house (surrounded by pine trees and palmetto bushes) I've identified about 7 different varieties of snakes. Non poisonous of course - but still each one will breed 30 to 60 babies! The black snakes I won't kill or harm but these others are a little too busy!
I just keep getting those images of the National Enquirer with the Python curled up in the toilet.
I'll wait until the DH has a good "sit-down" and then tell him what I did

That reminds me of the movie Snakes on a Plane, but a snake in a toilet is a whole lot scarier.

I'm not laughing - If you could pick up the snake with tongs why not just take it outside and let it go? Why do so many people feel this need to kill snakes? It was probably a harmless snake just looking for someplace warm to hide and now it is dead for no good reason. If it was small enough to be flushed it certainly couldnt have been very large and was certainly no threat.
I simply do not understand why people find the killing of an animal so amusing.

I'm afraid I'm with capolady on this one. I about clobbered the ex-girlfriend of my son when she wanted to club a snake that was on the walking path in the park. I took a stick and moved it out of the way.

Most likely that flushed snake slithered out somewhere along the way of the line, unless you have a septic tank. BUT snakes have been known to come up in a toilet due to them being flushed already. It is common for them to find their way out and maybe back up your line so you may be right in wondering if to sit or not to sit on that seat. LOL Poor snake lost in a dark hole.

ok we have LOTS of snakes. LOTS AND LOTS. Any snake OUTSIDE of the house we mostly leave alone and don't harm.
HOWEVER any snake INSIDE the house is fair game.
Geez. Where do you get off on this? It's ok to kill a spider or a roach but not a snake? How about a fly? Do you try to capture it and set it free?
Again. In 2 years we have identified 7 different varieties of snakes. Each female snake that reaches maturity has between 30 and 60 baby snakes.
All you snake lovers - send me your address and I'll start sending them alive to you. You can start your own snake farm.

Hey, I'm with you glassgirl
I am in No. Fla. There are water mocassins or is it moccasins, pigmy rattlers, reg. rattlers and all kinds of others. I am very cautious walking around in the yard. Scarey. However, I hear that some of the good snakes eat or scare away the bad ones. BUT, do they know this??

Snakes that come in my house uninvited are asking for trouble! Edited to add: And thanks everyone for the 'black hole' reference- I'm still trying to shake that vision from my head!

Flies I kill (dirty nasty creatures), spiders I don't (they kill the dirty nasty flies and mosquitos). I've been known to catch a spider and set it free outside (as well as a stray moth or two). Ken has already said he'd burn the house down if he ever found a roach.
I thought about you tonight glassgrl. We went to the Cleveland Zoo for Boo at the Zoo and one of the keepers had a snake you could hold. My granddaughter and I were holding it but my BF, Ken, wouldn't go near it. Now, he'd be the one to flush one down the toilet. I'm just one of those odd people that like snakes I guess. Just be sure to keep the toilet seat cover down and look before you sit! LOL!

The worst SNAKE we have in FLORIDA is the TOXIC...
RushL Snake
This fat, cold-blooded creature is unusual in the reptile world for being full of foul hot air, and is known to spit poisonious venom, often directed at the DISABLED!
Fortunately, this nasty, low-life pest can be put in its place by a BRAVE & VALIANT FOX!
Although often found in one's BATHROOM rumaging thru MEDICINE CABINETS, if the slimey RushL Snake happens to fall into yer toilet, don't hesitate to protect everybody and...FLUSH!

Well, this blonde could not have pick the live snake up with anything! So you are braver than me.
I would not being relieving nature without extreme anxiety. I figure your home intruder is gone into the water system under ground , but he will be living in your psyke for a long lonng time.
Snakes are plentiful in NC. We have all colors and creeds. Only two that are poisonous are Copperheads and Rattlesnakes. Copperheads are almost everywhere in NC. My DH kills several every year on our place.
He does not kill the other brands- green snakes, king snakes , etc.
The mountains have rattlesnakes but they are seldom found in this county.
I am not prejudice or partial, i really do embrace any snakes, regardless of the color or brand . Sure do not want them in my home. They do sliver into the attached garage if we leave the door up , so I am very fast with the remote and it never stays open.
Linda you ROCK , you are one Brave Blonde

Hum, I didn't mean anything by the black hole I was thinking of a septic hole and it being dark in there. Sorry if I offended anyone. I too don't like to kill things but if it is poisonous it is a goner if I get up nerve to get near it enough to clobber it.
My wife is always looking in toilet to make sure nothing is there cause she watched a movie once with snakes coming out of toilets and it has been years but she still looks first. I asked her once why she always does that and that was her answer. She is a phobic with snakes I think. Wish I had a video running one day while she was digging in flower bed came across a little 10 inch garden snake and she jumped so high from her on knee position she could have won the olympics, sad part was she landed on her behind and wound up hurting herself with her bad back, bed for over a week so not so funny I guess.
