I finally signed up for a fedex account, I am shipping items that have become too costly through usps. I'm hoping I can be more competitive with lower shipping rates. Anyway, as I am trying to get started, the address book asks for (demands) a phone number. Obviously I don't have that from my paypal payments, how do I get around that? Should I put in my own phone# ?

You can put in any old number you want to in there. You certainly could put your own number in, but I usually just put in 000-000-0000 and it takes it. Haven't had any problems yet and I've been shipping with them for years.

Fed Ex told me to use my own # if I didn't have the recipient's. It did come in handy when they had trouble with a delivery. They called to alert me. I was then able to email the buyer so she could contact them with the instructions they needed. So, I think it's best if they have something to use for a contact rather than 000s.

I use my number just for that reason so if there is a problem they can call me and maybe not return the item. So far no calls. Yep Fed Ex is much cheaper than USPS on certain weights and even cheaper than UPS from what I found.
