Ok Lt ray brought up good point in another post and Here goes.
What is your opinion on the Length of an auction with putting your TOS terms at bottom of your auctions. Mine is or looks long but is just seperated into different categories or sections but makes for a long looking page. I have been tossing the idea to cut out all the crap since most people don't read anyway but then that leaves you open to buyers saying you didn't say so and so in your auction or gripping about return policy not showing up or hidden, if you put it all on your ME page they say you hide things,
I have recently gone in on my templates and taken out decorator graphics though they are small in size all that cute stuff. I have even thought to just use one tiny plain simple template to cut down on load times and or use none at all, cut out all the non essential TOS but how do you decide what is non essential.
Ideas needed. OH things I don't cut is my images other than making them as small a KB size as I can and not loose detail. but have thought of that too. I like auctions with lots of images but then I am on broadband so I know lots are not.
Ideas , Ideas fess up.

First rule for TOS is to keep it SHORT & SIMPLE. Rather than a loooonnng list of what you don't accept (no PayPal, no roubles, no green stamps) - say what you do accept (bank transfers, checks or money orders). If you ship worldwide then offer two costs: domestic and international. Include when you normally ship i.e. within two business days of payment.
Also don't use too many or overly large images in your auction listing as this increases page loading time. (Of course in certain categories like antiques you do need detailed photos to prevent buyer's claiming existing damage...)

I don't have any don'ts in my auctions just general information return policy and the yada yada about not knowing if it is smoke, dirt, dust or pet free bla bla. But am thinking of going back to old way putting it all on my ME page. I am even tired of my long page cause I know they don't really read it. More I think about it the more I am going to clear it all out.
My only stipulation on my auctions is to be emailed for an international rates and do not quote them in auction as I don't really have time to look all that up for every auction and I do not use the calculated much at all. I always state US shipping. I try not to put over 5 images on any thing and most auctions get just 2 images. Plus I am thinking I take too much time getting just the perfect image and working myself to death with that. Think I am going back to my Mavica and do just those images not much editing of them at all resize etc. My sells are really sucking anyway. What it all boils down to is that I guess I am discouraged with sells and all my work for nothing. I need a slap in the face to make some changes I guess. LOL

I don't like all my TOS on the auction page but feel that you are leaving yourself too open without it. I do have more detail information on my "ME" page and say that that should be read prior to bidding.
I like putting my photos at the very top - then a brief description and then the TOS. Combined shipping is the first part of my TOS.

"but how do you decide what is non essential"
You ask eBay. Here's what they say:
"Sellers may provide one link to further describe the terms and conditions in the listing. This page may not include any links to Web pages outside–of-eBay. Remember that the relevant portions of the terms and conditions must be included on the listing page as well as on the separate Terms and Conditions page. This relevant information includes:
* Shipping information (a seller may also link to a shipping calculator)
