Walmart is selling this Sunday morning at 12:01AM a laptop for $398.00 this is like last years day after Thanksgiving sell. I have already been told our store will only have 20 of them no more first come first serve stand in line all that stuff.
I got my laptop there stood in line for 4 hours to get one of 25 they had in the blitz. OK I hear from a reliable source the this Saturday there will be a special where they will announce sometime during the day after noon Saturday that if you go to the electronics department you can get a ticket to buy a laptop for $348.00. Don't know if this is really going to happen but a worker manager at our Walmart told my source this information. Don't know if it is going to be nation wide or just some stores so if you are in market for a laptop Saturday may be the day to get a nice deal. be prepared to wait in line and go early.... This years advertised laptop is Compaq fairly nice specs too.
I really do like the one I got only thing I did to it was upgrade the memory and it zips along is wireless and a honey of a deal at the price I got it last Jan when I got it out of layaway.
OH one other bit of information, Walmart is doing away with layaway as of Nove 19 and I was told you can still use it up until then.
One of managers I talked with told me she thought Walmart was going to regret doing away with layaway as it would hurt business and also said as soon as Walmart announced their decision - Target stores announced they were starting layaways up again in all their stores. LOL figures.

Sorry Max,
My Walmart had only 15 of them and #12 person was lined up at 9:30 last night waiting for midnight to roll around. .
You lined up and waited 4 hours and the walmart didn't tell anyone there were no laptops?????????? That is very tacky of them to have people line up and not get what they line up for AT ALL. I bet your Walmart Employees all got one and customers were out in cold. Here 2 employees got fired last year for taking the sell items for themselves while people lined up for the limited amout that was to be had. If your store had an addvertisement come out which was a nation-wide one I think then send walmart.com or who ever a notice you stood in line with others??I hope and didn't get one IF you were one of the first in line. Maybe someone will get fired at your store. Just a thought.
Tell me you asked your electronic sells person some questions before standing in line all that time. LOL
Edited to add:
I just got through looking at Flyer for Walmart and it says small stores minimum could be 5 (very small print) and back of Flyer says OFFer only in USA and that Alaska and Hawaii may very SO I take it that this was nation wide it gives phone number to find store near you though too late for this one time offer since they are limited you could still call it and see if your store was supposed to have them and complain if they say yes. bla bla bla etc etc. here it is off flyer- 1-800-881-9180, of course I had to use magnifying glass to read all this, even my cheater glasses could not make it out.

Our Walmart had them for $398.00 in the ad but I did not even try to get one, I know what a madhouse it would have been. Unfortunately (or fortunately, I can never decide) I am working the day after Thanksgiving this year and won't be part of the madness. My son and daughter-in-law and usually split up and try to get the 'must have' items for the granddaughters. This year I am ahead of the game, I got them each a portable DVD player, all I have to do is get each one whichever DVD they want and I'm done!!

I don't play the after Thanksgiving sale game anymore...My time is worth way more than dealing with a stampede and a possibly dangerous situation to save $25 to $50. I can't compete against those whose time is worth nothing. I do like browsing the ads though, that is fun.

Step back a moment, guys, and appreciate the marketing genius behind this yearly event.
$398 is probably WalMart's cost on this laptop or close to it. Consider what WalMart's marketing budget must be. I'll bet (without even looking at the financials) that it is $100 to $200 million a year.
Now consider that they generate a huge amount of excitement and buzz simply by letting it be known they might have a dozen or so laptops for sale at their cost at each store the day after Thanksgiving.
As max40 pointed out, other WalMarts are selling this model for $538.
Okay, so what you're getting -- assuming you get one of the cherished few $398 machines -- is $140 off.
Now.
Imagine what would happen if WalMart let it be known, very quietly, that they're selling a small quantity of G.E. refrigerators the day after T-day, at their cost.
Think it would generate this much buzz?
Nope. The key here is to offer a product with a high perceived value. We all remember when even basic laptops were well over $1,000.
Nobody remembers when basic refrigerators cost $1,000.
Here's something else to consider.
The model number (V5305WM) indicates the machines are made specifically for WalMart. So you can't even compare prices and features with, say, online stores.
I love the way WalMart is driving this whole event. It shows real mastery, something we can all aspire to.

That is a big price difference in my flyer and yours, mine said $398.00. This sell was for or starting last sunday NOT for the day after Thanksgiving I suspect they will have another deal on laptops that day too. I guess different sections get different prices. Looks like they would make them all the same since it is same company. Too sad.
