Have any of you installed and run the new firefox yet.?
If so how are you finding it.?
Does it perform better then the old one.?
If i dump the old version and install the new version, will my information still be there to use.?
any help appreciated

It installed automatically yesterday (that is, updates were installed; not sure if that's what you're talking about) and there are no problems.

My bookmarks are still there - I'm still learning Firefox but like it so far.
Now I have Stumble which I think is something like favorites but I haven't had time to study it yet?

I checked on several of the forums for computer jockeys and the consensus is to stay with FireFox v1.5.8 for the moment. If you must upgrade then wait a week or so for FireFox v2.0.1.
As a general rule you should never, ever upgrade to a spanking new version x.0 unless forced to. Rather you should wait a while for the first bug fix x.0.1 (or x.1 depending on the developer). I used to be an alpha and beta tester for several large software companies and would never want to repeat that experience. I lost too much work due to completely random crashes and freezes (even with "saves" every few minutes).

agate,
You can export them to your desktop so if you do lose them you'll have backup.

If you go with 2.0, you will lose access to your "get mail" under tools on the toolbar and you will have to download a patch to get it back. Apparently, Firefox is trying to set up their own email and has deleted this from 2.0.
Otherwise, I love Firefox.
Just getting ready to start listing again after taking 3 months off. I do that sometimes. I get sick of it and need to take a break. I have a ton of stuff to list this winter, so I better get in the groove again.

There are some GREAT new features in the new version of Firefox. The two that I love the most are:
1) It has a BUILT-IN SPELL CHECK! Even for web-forms! It just underlines the word in red, and you can right click and pick the correct word. It's such a logical next step... but I don't know of any other browsers doing this!
2) If FireFox crashes or hangs... when you re-open the program, it gives you the option to start from scratch... or to resume your previous session(s). Since I work with typically 20-30 different windows/tabs... this would be a lot of work for me to retype all the URL's. Now, I don't have to! It just reopens them (and even remembers some of the sites with cookies, and re-logs you in to some of your sites.
I do notice that it crashes a little more than the previous version... and I'm having problems with it showing PDF's in-browser on my Windows machine. But aside from that, I love the new version!

The last time i tried to use their mail programme it kept on locking up big time. That was about 3 yrs ago. Since then i have not touched it.I still use outlook express.
The new version of firefox does sound good. I think i will be heeding advise given here and let it settle down for a while before i download it. But i will have a look at it and see what they have to say about the programme.
