My 15 year old grandson, who is studying Japanese and wants to become a translator in his "adult" life, finally got back to me with this translation. He wrote:
"it said...
'a post card by Eijiro Suzuki(the person's name who drew the picture) in Batan'".

Jacob likes money, and he knows there is money to be made in computers and linguistics, so he focuses on those two interests at the expense of his over-all grades.
Should you need more translations in German or Japanese, let me know and I'll forward them to him.

I have a bored 11-year-old who is brilliant in Science. Unfortunaely, the current administration has deemed this a subject unfit for grade school so in the 'no child left behind' there is no time left for science classes - what a pity!

Oh, Pixia! You and my daughter would get along beautifully! What a lot you would have to talk about!
Jacob, the grandson who translated your postcard, is now living with a family friend in northern Nevada so he can go to a school that teaches languages AND computers in the early classes. Deb misses him at home, but feels his education is primary at this point. Every other weekend she makes the long trip up north to see him for a day or two.
'No child left behind' has certainly left families and education behind!
PS: Jacob built the Mac computer, first, that he used to translate your postcard. That's why it took a bit to get it to you. (And I have trouble remembering how to clean my cache!) Ah, kids these days. Let us not underestimate them!
